San Diego – – Tyler Stephenson struck a two -point circuit on the left field with two withdrawals in the ninth – five rounds after being stolen from one by Fernando Tatis Jr. on the right – and the Cincinnati Reds beat the San Diego Padres 4-2 Tuesday evening.
Stephenson was prevailing in the lower balcony of the brick warehouse in the corner of the left field of Petco Park on a 2-1 plot of All-Star closer to Robert Suarez (4-6) to give the Reds an advance of 4-2.
In the fourth, Tatis made a perfectly timed leap to get his glove above the wall of the right field to steal Stephenson with a two-point shot. Tatis almost doubled Gavin Lux, who almost went to the second goal before having to withdraw for the first. It was Tatis’ fourth home flight in 27 home games since July 8.
The Padres lost two games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers at the top of the NL West. San Diego holds the second of the two jokers of the National League.
Cincinnati drew New York Mets for the last Place of the NL qualifiers in three games.
The Reds took an early advance for the second consecutive night, this time at the Home Runs by Sal Stewart in the first and Will Benson in the second, both off Michael King.
San Diego equalized it in the fifth on the RBI triple of Jackson Merrill and the sacrifice of Jake Cronenworth flies off Zack Littell. Merrill struck a triple two points in the sixth round of the 4-3 victory and 10 rounds on Monday evening.
Benson hit his head on the right field wall while taking a Jose Iglesias flyball jump to finish the second and was on the ground for several minutes. He stayed in the game before being replaced by a pinch shot in the seventh.
Suarez walked lux before Stephenson’s non-dubbt.
Connor Phillips (2-0) obtained the victory and Emilio Pagán obtained his 27th judgment.
Reds LHP Andrew Abbott (8-6, 2.88 ERA) and Padres RHP Nick Pivetta (13-5, 2.85) should start the final of the series on Wednesday evening.
