Red Sox in Brass – ATS Trade does not mean “Shake the White Flag”

Boston – The Boston Red Sox thought they would be better with a happy clubhouse than a dissatisfied Rafael.
One day after having exchanged their former basic player of the Giants of San Francisco, the president of the Red Sox, Sam Kennedy, told journalists on Monday evening that the refusal of Devers to change the positions had made untenable for him to stay with the team.
“In terms of what was missing, it was just this alignment in terms of what we needed him who would be in the best interest of the Ball Club,” said Kennedy. “It is a non-start for us. We must have it. We could not get there. … So we made the decision we made.”
Less than two years after having signed a contract of $ 313.5 million over 10 years, the Red Sox sent him to the Giants Sunday evening for launchers Jordan Hicks and Kyle Harrison and a pair of prospects. The agreement occurred the day Boston won a fifth consecutive victory and ended a scan of New York Yankees rivals – a rare cause of excitement this season.
“It was a shock for sure after the race that we have just had last week,” Launcier Garrett Crochet said in Seattle before the match on Monday evening against the Navy. “There is a lot of season in front of us. So, it’s really just keeping our eyes forward and knowing that there is still work to do.”
When asked what this decision means for this year’s team, Aroldis Chapman, closer, said: “I don’t know. I don’t really know.”
Baseball director Craig Breslow recognized at the conference on Monday evening that the agreement leaves a hole in the alignment, but he hoped that it will be paying this season. Although there is a newly created need for a power striker, the team now has flexibility of alignment and payroll to add players on the deadline for trade, he said.
“It is important to emphasize that this does not in any case mean aisper of the white flag on 2025,” he said. “We are also committed that six months ago to put a winning team on the field, participate in the division and take a deep race in the playoffs.”
A local and triple all-star who joined Ted Williams as the only Red Sox players to have several seasons of 30 Homers before it is 25 years old, the removal of the team with the team Aigri when she signed the third basic player of the Golden Glove Alex Bregman this offseason. Devers, which led the League in errors for a third basic player in each of the last seven seasons, fell to switch to the designated striker and then refused to play in first or third position when Bregman and the first basic player Triston Casas were both injured.
“We are responsible for doing everything possible to improve the club. And we estimated that we did by bringing Alex Bregman to the Red Sox,” Kennedy told. “And we have a responsibility, ironically, to each player of this clubhouse to do everything in our power to improve the club. It is therefore something that we were determined to do. And I do not regret it for a minute.”
But they have lost devers in the process.
“For any reason, this team (is) an example where the hole was not greater than the sum of the parties. And being large teammates and sacrificing and intensifying one for each other and embodying this shared vision, we think that these are principles to which we must be faithful. And therefore, at the end of the season, I think we could look more than we would not have, of which this case is now possible. ”

“We worked there. We had a different vision for him in the future, and we could not get there. We could not find the alignment,” said Kennedy. “And we have reached this inflection point and made the decision to take a big step.”
This decision was a shock for fans of the Red Sox always salty on the Mookie Betts salary dumping ground in 2020 – a year after winning the MVP of Al – in a job that has not given little in return. The team also let Xander Bogaerts leave as a free agent before deciding that Devers was the player in which they were ready to invest.
Now just a full season later, he’s also gone.
“There are reasons why it did not work,” said manager Alex Cora. “But the last months have not been easy. We have made decisions during the offseason. The circumstances changed last month and this is the commercial decision that we have taken as an organization. Now, Raffy will be with the Giants and as I said, we have to turn the page and be ready for this team.”
Breslow insisted that the agreement was not an attempt to reduce the payroll – like the Betts offers, which won two World Series in Los Angeles, or Chris Sale, who won the NL Cy Young Award in his first season with the Braves. The baseball boss admitted that he was in the second deterioration on the way he managed the signature of Bregman, who surprised permanent by surprise, and attempts to change the 28 -year stars.
“I think of this question all the time,” said Breslow. “This is not the result we expected. And that forced me to think about the interactions I had, not only with Raffy, but with other players and opportunities to communicate differently.”
The victories sequence on the Red Sox came with Bregman and the Wilyer Abreu wounded, joining the outflower Masataka Yoshida and the first goal player Triston Casas on the injured list. In their place, the team relied on Callups like Kristian Campbell, Marcelo Mayer and the best Roman Hope Anthony, who made his major league debt to a lot of media threshing last week.
Breslow said the front office will continue to seek means to improve the team, with a new need for a new need.
“For any reason, this team (is) an example where the hole was not greater than the sum of the parts,” he said. “And being great teammates and sacrifice and intensify each other for each other and embody this shared vision, we believe that these are principles to which we must be faithful.
“And so, at the end of the season, I think we could look back and say that we have won more matches than we would have otherwise,” he said, “because of the way this list is now able to come together.”
