Red Sox-Astros ranges for August 11
The Red Sox lost their first series in almost three weeks during the weekend, abandoning the Padres decision-maker on Sunday in San Diego.
Boston will seek to bounce back in a revenge match with the Astros, which the SOXs have swept last weekend for the first time since 2013.
After losing three of their last four, the Red Sox must be happy that they can send Ace Garrett Crochet to the mound on Monday. The Grand Gaucher won the victory in his last six departures. The only defeat of Boston in the start of the hook since the beginning of June came when he launched seven laundry rounds during a possible defeat against the angels on June 24.
Righthander Cristian Javier will make his debut for the season for Houston after an absence of 14 months after Tommy John surgery.
The first launch at Houston is 8:10 p.m. to the east. Here is an overview.

Notes: Hook is 0-2 with an MPM of 4.35 in three career appearances (two starts) against the Astros. He faced Houston twice last season when he launched the White Sox of Chicago and did not take into account the decision of a 5-4 victory on August 16 after granting a point on four strokes with nine sticks in the stick in four rounds. . . Hook has not taken the loss of any of its last 11 departures. . . Bregman will play Houston for the first time since leaving the team as a free agent of the last season. Bregman was one of two World Series title teams during his nine seasons. “It’s going to be great,” said Bregman. “It’s going to be cool to be back in Houston by playing against a very good ball club. I can’t wait to go there and compete with the guys and try to get victories.” . . . The Red Sox enter four games on Monday behind the Blue Jays of Al East and a match behind the Mariners for the first point of Joker.
