Red Dead Redemption 2 Finds Its Way Into Braithwaite’s Daughter’s Locked Home After 7 Years
One of the greatest mysteries of Red Dead Redemption 2 has always been the locked latrine on the grounds of Braithwaite Manor. Now the players have found a way inside.
For those who don’t know, Red Dead Redemption 2 is full of weird and unexplained stuff. Lights in the sky, robots, pigs and even poor Gavin. If you explore the area around Braithwaite Manor, you will find an outhouse. Get too close and you will hear the desperate cries of a young woman.
What’s inside Braithwaite’s locked outhouse?
It’s quite sinister
If you dig a little, you’ll discover that the woman locked in the small wooden shed is Gertrude Braithwaite, who was apparently born disfigured due to inbreeding. Her mental state also leaves a lot to be desired, but I’d bet that has more to do with the fact that she spent most of her life locked in a box.
This information is not really new. However, the idea that you can actually get inside the latrines to see what it is? Well, this is a more recent discovery. Previously, we could only hear Gertrude’s pleas. If you want to take a closer look at it, that’s what you should do.
A Reddit user recently shared a video showing that if you drag an animal carcass to the latrine and start skinning it at the right angle, you may have problems inside and come face to face with Gertrude.

As Gertrude makes numerous sexually explicit threats at you if you hang out near the latrines, I can’t help but feel bad for her. Once you enter her “house” you can see that it is indeed disfigured. She also spends most of her day curled up sobbing, so, you know, that sucks for her.
Since this is a glitch, once you are inside the latrine, she will no longer react to you or any of your weapons. Not that you should try to shoot or abuse an imprisoned young girl anyway, mind you. You won’t be able to free her either, so it’s just a way to get a good look at her in the flesh after all these years.
This, of course, is just one of many secrets Red Dead Redemption 2 is still able to carve out a path for us after all these years. Who knows what he still has to do?
