Real Madrid See calls against Mbappe and Rudiger sanctions rejected by UEFA

UEFA rejected a Real Madrid appeal against the fines for Kylian Mbappe, Antonio Rudiger and Dani Ceballos for their conduct at the end of their Champions League link in the last 16th row with Atletico Madrid.

Madrid beat Atletico in a dramatic penalty shootout in March, who saw Julian Alvarez having his controversial controversial penalty.

UEFA then confirmed that it was investigating Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, Rudiger and Ceballos and, in April, announced sanctions for all except Vinicius.

Mbappe was seen to grab his crotch in a gesture for Atletico fans after victory, while television photos seemed to show Rudiger to make a throat movement.

The star of France Mbappe was sentenced to a fine of € 30,000 by control, the ethics and the disciplinary body of UEFA (CEDB), the German defender Rudiger receiving a fine of € 40,000. The two players received a suspended ban on a match, subject to a probationary period of one year. Ceballos was sentenced to a fine of € 20,000.

UEFA ruled on Monday on the appeal, rejecting it and now these sanctions in place.

In addition, the European football director also rejected a Madrid call against a fine of € 15,000 taken by the CEDB for a Nazi salute made by a supporter during their defeat in the quarter -finals in the first stage against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Madrid has been forbidden to sell tickets to supporters for their next UEFA match, although this punishment was also suspended, subject to a year’s probation period.

Meanwhile, Slavia Prague will have her House Fortuna Arena partially closed for the first match in the Champions League which they welcome in the 2025-26 League.

Slavia, who qualified for the league phase after winning the Czech title in 2024-25, appealed against their punishment for the racist behavior of the fans in a draw of the Europa League with Anderlecht in December.

An initial fine of € 35,000 has been reduced to € 20,000, although a partial closure of the stadium for their next UEFA match remains in place.
