Perfect 15 -minute training when you get back from a heart attack

Although many research connects the exercise to a healthier heart, if you have recently had a heart attack, you can’t just hit the gymnasium. Your heart has gone through a traumatic event, which means that recovery must be progressive, explains the doctor in physiotherapy Samantha Duflo, PT, DPT, indigo physiotherapy in Baltimore.

Ideally, you would also be supervised in the early stages of your recovery.

“If someone has experienced a cardiovascular event, such as a stroke, a heart attack or has complicated medical history, he would see a special type of physiotherapist in something known as cardiac rehabilitation,” said Duflo.

In cardiac rehabilitation, the physiotherapist will make constant or intermittent monitoring of your heart rate, your blood pressure and your perceived effort, or how you feel hard.

All of this is monitored to assess whether your heart and cardiovascular system respond to exercise requests appropriately without being too taxed, says Duflo.

Once you have reached outpatient rehabilitation and you have been medically authorized to exercise, you can start integrating more movements yourself, she said.

Focus on the moderate exercise – which means that you can speak comfortably while doing the movements – and avoid holding your breath at any time, because it can exert more pressure on your heart.
