“I’m a Grammy nominated artist” Shadow (real name Shane Michael Boose) in a November 6 Instagram post. “I’m in shock!! Thank you @recordingacademy and everyone who voted for me. I’m so proud to be recognized among so many incredible artists that I love and respect.”
The 20-year-old then reflected on how the last year has changed his life.
“Ever since I was little, I have lived and breathed music. It has changed my life in so many ways,” he continued. “This time last year, I was 19, depressed and didn’t know where to turn. I wrote all these songs by myself in my room. Looking back, I’m so grateful to everyone who encouraged me to keep going.”
To top off his gratitude, the “Back to Friends” singer expressed his love for his fans.
“You are the reason I get up in the morning and I continue to do this even when I’m at my lowest,” he shared. “Seeing the impact music has had on you means everything to me. I love you so much. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
