It was his 5th consecutive 50 in the series helping India overcome a massive 311 deficit in the IND vs ENG 4th Test. The 36-year-old joined hands with Washington Sundar to guide India into the lead in Manchester.

Ravindra Jadeja walked into bat at the stroke of lunch on the fall of Shubman Gill’s wicket. With Rishabh Pant injured, the onus was on Jadeja to bat for long enough to push India towards a draw.

He took to that task effectively, blocking with purpose. The left hander rotated the strike well and cashed on the loose deliveries to score a fine half century.
