“Rather to be on the ground rather than in the cage”

Rafael Devers was in hot water to start the season with the Boston Red Sox. After the club concluded Alex Bregman on a $ 120 million contract over three years, Devers had to adapt to the new reality of the abandonment of the third goal and the creation of the role of DH.

However, his comments addressed to the club after the Red Sox wanted him to play in a new position does not increase well, because they ended up exchanging it as well as his $ 313.5 million contract with the Giants of San Francisco. Even the giants wanted to play it at the first goal, so the inner field player finally gave in.

After making his debut on Tuesday at first goal, Rafael Dever explained why it may not have been what he wanted, but to stay in alignment, he had to adapt.

“Certainly. It keeps me active – it prevents the head from thinking about the next in the stick,” said Devers.

“I am the kind of player who likes to be active, like to be on the field. I prefer to be on the field only in the cage by hitting all the time and simply thinking of the next stick.”

Rafael Devers had an excellent outing to the first goal. He did each defensive game spontaneously and even contributed to the bat in the 9-0 victory. In five appearances, he managed two strokes, including an RBI and also scored twice.

What led to the departure of Rafael Dévers des Red Sox?

Rafael Devers wanted to play the third goal, but there was not the possibility with Alex Bregman present. Thus, he reluctantly accepted to play as DH. But when the Red Soxs lost the first basic player Triston Casas for the season, Boston approached devers to the first base.

Devers pushed this request. It was not what was asked to start the season in spring training.

“They had the conversation with me,” said it through his interpreter Daveson Perez via MLB.com. “I do not think, for me personally, it is the best decision after they asked me to play a different position (in training in the spring). And I only had two months to play this position for all of a sudden, I try to play another position.

“So, from my end, it does not seem to be a good decision. They came to me and told me about it. I know that I am a ball player, but at the same time, they cannot expect that I play each position there. During spring training, they talked to me and essentially told me to tidy up my glove and I was not going to play another position but DH.

The Red Sox finally put the branch on Rafael Dévers and exchanged the slugger from the stars to the Giants for the right -handers Jordan Hicks, the left -hander Kyle Harrison and two prospects – the voltiseur James Tibbs III (Giants No. 4 Perspect at the time of the agreement) and the Jose Bello on the right in June.
