The scene is planned for another domestic cricket season full of action in India, because the Cricket Control Council in India (BCCI) would have finalized the calendar of the 2025-26 season. With the red ball cricket in the heart of the calendar, the Raji trophy is ready to take place in two phases.
As reported by a PTI journalist, the Indian national season 2025-26 will start with the Duleep trophy, which is scheduled from August 28 to September 15, giving selectors an early overview of the form and the ability of players for international assignments.

A few days later, the emphasis was put in the emblematic Irania section, which should be held from October 1 to 5, where the champions in the title of Ranji and the rest of the team of India will fight for the trophy. The Ranji trophy will also be played in two phases this season. The first phase of the red ball tournament will take place from October 15 to November 19, followed by a break before the second phase and eliminations, scheduled between January 22 and February 28.

During the break, India’s white ball tournaments, including the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy in December and the Vijay Hazare trophy in January, will be staged by the BCCI.
BCCI brings back the zonal format for the Duleep trophy
Meanwhile, the BCCI decided to bring back the traditional zonal format of the Duleep Trophy of this season. Instead of four teams like last year (India A, B, C and D), the tournament will now have six zones – north, south, east, west, central and northeast.
This change means that more domestic players will have the opportunity to present their talent, and that more cricket players can be included in the teams. The decision was made at the BCCI Apex Council meeting in March and should now be implemented at the start of the season.

Vidarbha should start the Ranji season as title champions
Well, Vidarbha raised the Ranji trophy during the 2024-20125 season after beating the Kerala in the final in Nagpur. However, the match ended with a draw, but the 37 -point lead in first round was sufficient to secure the title to them, according to the rules of the tournament.
Karun Nair led the charge with a brilliant century, while Danish Malewar provided strong support to push the third heats in front of 400. This victory marked the third title of the Ranji Trophy of Vidarbha in just seven years. After his strong show in the last national season, Nair was recalled in the Indian Cricket team.
In particular, the Indian Cricket team is currently preparing for the five -game test series against England, starting on June 20 in Leeds. They are currently facing India in a warm -up match to refine their preparations for the difficult challenge to come against Ben Stokes and his team.
