Rangers want to sign 3.5 million pounds of international sterling after Celtic has proposed

The Glasgow Rangers seek to bring other new faces to Ibrox before the end of the transfer window so that they can start to fill the early gap that Celtic has built in the Scotlers Première title race.
After the first two games of the season, the Rangers are seated mid-table on two points, while Celtic reached the table with six points after consecutive victories in their opening matches. Although the Russell Martin team has experienced a strong start to the European qualification, it is the league where they will be most judged, and new signatures could help rectify their current trajectory.
Oscar Cortes was the most expensive signature of the Rangers so far at this window, but after the loan spells with the club, he has not yet seen much in the League since his permanent performance, present only in an eight -minute camée against Motherwell.
The second signature of the Rangers was Oliver Antman from Go Ahead Eagles. He not only served as a good addition to the team, but also a barrier in the pursuit of Jakob Breum Celtic. The Dutch team would no longer have had to sell Breum due to the money they received for Antman, so that the signature accidentally brought a blow to its greatest competitors. Martin’s team is now looking to align another agreement that would see them take one of the main Celtic transfer objectives.
The Rangers want to beat Celtic in Irving
The Scottish reports said the Rangers are considering an offer for the West Ham midfielder Andy Irving. Celtic had placed an offer of a value of up to 2.25 million pounds sterling for Irving, but it was rejected, West Ham wishing 3.5 million pounds sterling for the midfielder.
Irving has been in West Ham since 2023, but the Rangers could soon offer him the opportunity to return to Scotland and get more minutes in the first team before the World Cup. Irving received his cap in Scotland in June in a friendly against Liechtenstein, and the player hopes to add to these appearances during the next qualifications of the World Cup.
Although he received only 162 minutes of Premier League football last season, Irving is a widely desired player and can play in a role of defensive, central or attacker midfielder. Even if Celtic has been put off by their failed offer, the Rangers will always have to compete with teams from Germany, Italy and Austria to obtain its signature.
Why so many teams want to sign Irving
Nicknamed “The Portobello Pirlo” at the Hearts Academy, Irving did not receive a lot in the first team during his stay at London Stadium. However, his stay in Austria has shown the levels he is capable of.
Although the Austrian League is in a way an unknown quantity for many British fans, it is in fact ranked above in the world football ranking than the Scottish Première.
During its last season on loan in Austria, Irving’s versatility was fully exposed. The table below shows the centile of similar players to which Irving fell for various measures during the 2023/24 season.

This table shows that not only is Irving a full midfielder capable of scoring, passing and defending, but it also does so to a higher degree of success than other similar players. On the basis of these measures, it is not surprising that the Rangers and Celtic both showed an interest in bringing him back to the Premierhip and in dealing with the Serie A and Bundesliga competition for him.
