Rams Matthew Stafford’s practices for the first time in the training camp
The quarter of the Rams Matthew Stafford is back.
But to what extent remains to be seen.
Stafford, sidelined since the start of the training camp because of a back problem, practiced on Monday for the first time.
This described an unexpected and important development for the Rams while they are preparing for their first game on September 7 against Houston’s Texans at the Sofi stadium.
Stafford, 37, suffered individual and team exercises with the offense of the first team. The 17th year pro was a full participant, but he did not speak to journalists afterwards.
“It was good to have Matthew,” said Rams coach Sean Mcvay. “There are no updates. We are going to take one day, a week at a time. ”
Stafford looked net and had no significant limitation during the practice of one hour. RAMs generally go through energetic training sessions at rapid rhythm.
But there was an increased and palpable feeling of excitement from other players when Stafford entered the group during the first period of 11 against 11.
“It was certainly something that guys felt good,” said Mcvay. “It represents an excellent opportunity he wanted to be there and do what he did … and we will see what [Tuesday] implied. “”
On the basis of what he saw of Stafford, how confident Mcvay is that Stafford will be ready for the opener?
“I think it will put the cart before the horse,” said Mcvay.
Mcvay used his post-pratic press conference to withdraw the reins on himself.

From the start of the training camp, Mcvay publicly published the target dates so that Stafford begins to practice or browse individual training. Many of these dates came and came with Stafford away.
Questions followed.
“There were a lot of things we had talked about at the beginning, and that’s a bit differently from what we had planned,” said Mcvay.
Mcvay on Monday, Mcvay said on several occasions that there were no updates on the situation of staff – “we are trying to get their hands on it” – and that the Rams would continue one day at a time.
“I’m not going to piper in plans,” said Mcvay. “And so we really see what he feels.”
Until Monday, the only active Stafford work on the field occurred on August 9, when Mcvay said that Stafford had launched more than 60 passes encompassing short, medium and long routes. Stafford had to train two days later, but could not do so.
Last Saturday, before the Rams played the loaders, Stafford was to go through another training. But when asked to confirm if Stafford did it, the RAMs on Saturday evening refused to comment, sending the NFL world with speculation on the health of Stafford.
On Monday, the Rams confirmed that Stafford had not passed the Saturday session.
And Stafford looked impatient and under tension during practice.
Stafford and the Jimmy Garoppolo, Stetson Bennett and Dressing Winn quarters started by taking pictures of the centers. They continued to perform deployment passes, stretched with the team, then did transfer exercises with runners.
When they gathered for exercises of 11 against 11, Stafford connected the recipient Davante Adams during his first pass. During the next game, he rushed in front of the pocket and tried a short pass which fell incomplete, moving without obvious obstacle or sign of discomfort.
These are positive signs for a RAMS team to return to the Super Bowl for the first time since the 2021 season.
But Mcvay did not allow himself to be too excited or to look too far.
“My work is to make sure to stay stable and hide-n ° 1 for Matthew but for our group,” he said. “Of course, you want it to feel as well as possible and can open the way.
“But if the circumstances do not allow it, then we have a lot of confidence in Jimmy and Stetson and our group as a whole.”
