Rams crush Jaguars in season finale in London

The Los Angeles Rams made mincemeat of the Jacksonville Jaguars for a 35-7 victory in the final game in London of the 2025-26 NFL season. With the win, the Rams took sole possession of first place in the NFC West with a 5-2 record, but that could change depending on the results of tonight’s Sunday Night Football game between the Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers.
The Jaguars couldn’t stop Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford or wide receiver Davante Adams. Stafford became the first player in NFL International Series history to throw five touchdown passes in a single game. Meanwhile, Adams finished the day with five catches for 35 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
On the other hand, it felt like the Jaguars spent the entire game destroying themselves. They were five for 21 on third and fourth downs combined and were also flagged 13 times for 119 penalty yards. On top of that, Jacksonville allowed seven sacks.
The Jaguars’ pass protection issues from last week resurfaced when quarterback Trevor Lawrence was sacked on the first offensive play of the game, ultimately leading to a punt. The sack, recorded by linebacker Jared Verse, was his fourth in his last five games.
On the Rams’ first series, while facing a 4th-and-3 in the red zone, Stafford connected with running back Kyren Williams for a nine-yard gain to reach the Jags’ seven-yard line. That set up a five-yard TD catch by rookie Konata Mumpfield for a 7-0 advantage. It was just the second career reception for the 2025 seventh-round pick and his first career touchdown.
It was a rough start for the Jags. They had no net yards on their first two drives, both of which were three-and-outs. They also had an offensive holding penalty and allowed a sack.
The Rams were in complete control of this game in the first quarter. On consecutive plays, the Jags were flagged for a 26-yard defensive pass interference penalty, and tight end Colby Parkinson made a 23-yard reception to bring the ball back to the Jacksonville 30. Then Davante Adams got in on the action with a catch and a 15-yard run back into the red zone. Three plays later, Adams caught an impressive two-yard TD pass to increase LA’s lead to 14-0. It was his team-leading fourth touchdown reception of the campaign.
Luckily for the Florida natives, Jacksonville managed to get a little something going on their third possession. They converted on their first third down of the day to take this game into the second quarter. Soon the Jaguars were tasked with a 4th and 1 from the Los Angeles 47. They didn’t hesitate, however, converting that fourth attempt into a final sweep. Unfortunately, a sack by TLaw derailed the drive and forced a punt. In his last two starts, Trevor Lawrence has been sacked 14 times.
Once again, a self-inflicted wound hurt the Jaguars. They had a 61-yard punt return TD wiped off the board due to an illegal block in the back penalty.
Unsurprisingly, this canceled touchdown had an impact on the Jags. Trevor Lawrence threw a 22-yard pass to wide receiver Tim Patrick on third down to reach the Los Angeles 39-yard line. Although they got to the 32, kicker Cam Little missed a 50-yard field goal attempt, allowing the Rams to take control of the ball with just under seven minutes remaining in the first half. After making ten of his first 12 field goal attempts this season, Cam Little is 0/2 in his last two games.
After the missed kick, LA reached the red zone thanks to a 17-yard defensive pass interference penalty and a 16-yard catch by Davante Adams. From there, tight end Colby Parkinson took the ball to the one-yard line on a 16-yard catch and run. Two plays later, Davante Adams scored a fantastic one-handed touchdown to give the Rams a 21-0 lead. The last time Adams caught two or more TD passes in a game was in Week 15 of the 2024-25 season against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Jaguars took the field with 4:37 left in the second quarter. On a 3rd-and-10, Trevor Lawrence connected with wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. for a 22-yard pickup. A little later, Lawrence hit Parker Washington for another 11 yards to bring Jacksonville into the red zone for the first time today. With a 3rd and 7 coming out of the two-minute warning, TLaw missed a pass to wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter, leading them to punt on fourth down. Lawrence tried to take the first down with his legs, but he came three meters from the sticks for a turnover on downs.
Although LA took the field with 1:45 left in the quarter, they ran the ball twice before taking a knee to send this game into halftime.
After forcing a punt on the first possession of the third quarter, the Jaguars were able to move the ball. Travis Hunter made consecutive catches and runs for 11 yards to reach midfield. Then a defensive pass interference put Jacksonville on the Los Angeles 43. The defensive outfit then took the ball to the 38 yard line. Soon the Jags faced a 3rd and 2. As was the case for most of the game, Jacksonville failed to convert this third down, so they went for fourth down. Trevor Lawrence missed a pass intended for wide receiver Dyami Brown, leading to a turnover on downs. The Jaguars went 2-for-6 on fourth downs in this one.
Unlike the first half, Los Angeles struggled to get things going in the third quarter. They were forced to punt four times and had just 29 yards on their first four possessions of the second half.
On Jacksonville’s next series, Trevor Lawrence connected with Dyami Brown for a 39-yard pass to move the ball closer to midfield. A few downs later, Lawrence raced 14 yards to advance the ball to the Rams’ 30. Trailing by three touchdowns, the Jags did it again on fourth down. Once again, Jacksonville failed to convert, leading to its third turnover on downs of the game. Prior to this game, Jacksonville had converted on six of its nine fourth-down attempts this season.
The Jaguars offense took the field back to 43 after forcing a quick three-and-out. A Rams facemask at the end of a seven-yard run put the ball on the Los Angeles 35-yard line. But then they were forced to punt after Trevor Lawrence was brought down for a 13-yard sack.
Following an exchange of punts, the Rams started the fourth quarter at their own 40. From there, they were able to put together a significant drive. Jacksonville was penalized for defensive holding on a third-down stop, giving Los Angeles another set of downs at the Jags’ 40. From there, they went with a 4th and inches. On this play, Matthew Stafford threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to rookie tight end Terrance Ferguson for a 28-0 lead.
The Jaguars found themselves on the Los Angeles side of the field after back-to-back drives of 21 and 25 yards. Two plays later, Trevor Lawrence hit Travis Hunter for a 34-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 28-7 with 9:06 remaining. It was Hunter’s first career TD at the NFL level.
LA had the perfect response to this score. After recovering an onside kick at the Jacksonville 45, Kyren Williams ran for a nine-yard gain on a 3rd-and-7 to reach the Jags’ 33. On the next third down, Jacksonville was penalized for a facemask and defensive pass interference, putting the Rams on the six-yard line. This led to Davante Adams’ third TD catch of the game for a 35-7 advantage.
The Jags had to start again on fourth down at the Los Angeles 38-yard line while facing a 28-point deficit. This time, Trevor Lawrence completed a 16-yard pass to Travis Hunter for another series of downs. Ultimately, they missed a fourth down attempt in the red zone, allowing the Rams to run out the clock for the victory.
The Jaguars currently find themselves in the middle of a two-game losing streak after starting the season 4-1.
