Rahul Dravid reveals how Ashwin helped Australia play rotation and beat India during the BGT 2023

Under the mandate of Rahul Dravid as a coach of India, Ravichandran Ashwin played 21 tests and claimed 103 counters from a formidable 20.49 bowling average.
There’s hardly anything under the umbrella of cricket that Ravichandran Ashwin can’t do. He is one of the greatest spinners ever, a reliable batter, a professional YouTuber (now), an analyst and, of course, a deep thinker of the game. Is yet to dive into the coaching world. But hang on, has he? Rahul Dravid thinks otherwise!
Dravid reveals how Ashwin helped Australia play spin
Former India head coach Rahul Dravid recently featured in Ravichandran Ashwin’s ‘Kutti Stories’ YouTube video. Apart from sharing his experience of being a former legend, broadcaster and head coach, Dravid gave fans a sensational insight. He revealed how Ashwin once helped the Australian team on how to play spin under challenging Indian conditions. The incident is of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023 that was held in India.
Dravid mentioned how Ashwin uploaded a video on his channel, speaking about where the visitors were going wrong when reading the Indian spinners. All this in the middle of a high-octane BGT in India! Right after India go 2-0 up in the four-match series in Delhi, Ashwin upload a video on ‘how to play spin in India’.
“You even coached the Australia team. Unfortunately it (the video) was in Tamil. So that’s the one I have seen about you. You speaking in Tamil, and with the little bit of Tamil that I understand, you were coaching the Australian team in the middle of the series on how to play spin! And I am seeing that and thinking, ‘Ash, the series is not over.’”
Hearing this, Ashwin funnily replied, “If I knew how to teach playing spin, I would have told our boys. Why would I go and tell the Aussies? You (Dravid) got the flak for it.”
It is pertinent to note that after the second Test, Australia completely outplayed India in the third Test in Indore as they claimed the third Test by 9 wickets. Conversely, it was India who failed to counter spin as they got bundled out for 109 and 163 in the Test. Nathan Lyon took eight wickets in the second innings against India.
“The only flak that I got was hearing about how Ashwin is coaching better than I. What are you doing? “What is fascinating is that they won the next Test match!” replied Dravid.
