‘Pumped up’ Rohit Sharma shouts ‘Behe *****’ as Virat Kohli slams 52nd ODI hundred in MS Dhoni’s hometown

Former Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has enjoyed a legacy alongside Virat Kohli as the two almost shared the dressing room throughout their careers. They are one of the world’s most successful batting pairs in the history of ODI cricket.

India and its fans have once again understood why Virat Kohli is called the GOAT, irrespective of generation of cricket. Kohli’s 135 in Ranchi not only redefined him as a cricketer but also established the fact that class is permanent and age is just a number.

Not only did Kohli bat a ton, but he also ensured that his innings always looked aggressive. He scored a hundred and smashed a total of 18 boundaries during his innings, 7 of which were sixes. Kohli has once again set the bar high with his ball speed between the wickets.

Rohit Sharma celebrates Virat Kohli’s century with irrefutable aggression

Nearly 50% or more of the runs in Virat’s 135 innings came while he batted in partnership alongside opener Rohit Sharma. Rohit, who himself enjoys the title of aggressor, simply kept a low profile and saw Kohli charging down the track like never before.

The duo put together another century-long partnership, and during this over, Kohli crossed his half-century. With Rohit at the other end, Kohli looked unstoppable, but after his dismissal, the innings unfolded a little slower and more sensibly, which was probably the right thing to do.

As Rohit sat on the balcony of the Indian dressing room, he celebrated Virat Kohli’s hundred with the same aggression as that of the Indian legend and then went all smiles. He stood up and clapped his hands in joy.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are now the second highest-scoring batting pair in ODIs

Setting new standards even at the age of 37 and 38 respectively, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma not only added over 100 runs in a partnership for India but also surpassed the old run tally for former Sri Lanka duo Dilshan and Sangakkara in partnerships in ODI cricket.

Therefore, they are now the second highest scoring pair in a partnership with 5619* runs and have also held their own with 20th century partnerships, which are also the second highest in the game. They are behind only former Indian players Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar.

Virat Kohli is the new highest centurion in a unique format

With Ranchi’s final century, India’s greatest ODI batter of all time has climbed a new step and set a new record. Virat scored his 52nd century in the 50-over format and his 83rd in total. With the 52nd century, he now has the most tons in a single edition of the game.

Kohli has surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most hundreds in a single format, as he has as many as 51 in international red-ball cricket. This seems to be one of those records that might remain unbreakable for a long time in gaming history.
