PSG’s Achraf Hakimi walks out in tears after wild tackle from Luis Díaz

Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi was helped to tears after rolling his ankle by a wild tackle from Bayern Munich’s Luis Díaz on Monday at the Parc des Princes.
Díaz had scored twice for Bayern in the first half of the Champions League match between the two top-of-the-table sides before launching a reckless challenge from behind on Hakimi which earned the Bayern winger a straight red card after a VAR review.
Bayern then won the match 2-1 to move to first place in the Champions League league stage standings.
On Wednesday, Díaz posted a message to his followers on IG: “It was an evening full of emotions. Football always reminds us that in 90 minutes anything can happen, the best or the worst. I was sad not to finish the match with my teammates, but proud of their incredible effort. I wish Hakimi a quick return to the field.”
Earlier in the first half, Ousmane Dembélé was taken out of the match after scoring what appeared to be the first goal of the match. As the goal was stopped by VAR, the French international seemed uncomfortable.
The goal was ruled out for offside, preserving Bayern’s 1-0 lead, as Dembélé made way for Lee Kang-in before heading straight towards the tunnel leading to the locker room.
Asked about the two players after the match, PSG coach Luis Enrique said: “I don’t know, we have to wait for the tests tomorrow. And the injuries of the two players. Hakimi, it’s football, a contact sport, it’s a shame.”
Díaz scored a second goal for Bayern to put the visitors 2–0 ahead before his booking at the end of the half. Moroccan defender Hakimi left the field in tears and was unable to put pressure on his left leg after Díaz knocked down his ankle with a double-legged tackle.
“I hope Hakimi recovers quickly,” Bayern coach Vincent Kompany said after the match. “We know what it’s like to have an injured player with [Jamal] She had to [injured against PSG in the Club World Cup]. This can happen in matches with such intensity. »
Dembélé was out for six weeks in early September until returning on October 20 due to a hamstring injury picked up while playing for France in a 2–0 win over Ukraine in World Cup qualifying.
It was not immediately clear whether Dembélé was injured again on Tuesday.
Coach Luis Enrique assured on the eve of the match that Dembélé was fit to play, while PSG were also without striker Désiré Doué, injured in his right thigh.
