Prithvi Shaw destroys Mumbai bowlers, sends strong message to Ajit Agarkar with sensational century amid IND-WI Tests

Maharashtra slugger Prithvi Shaw scored a hundred in the Ranji Trophy warm-up match against his former team Mumbai. He completed his hundred off 140 balls while building on a mammoth partnership of over 300 runs alongside opener Arshin Kulkarni.

25-year-old Prithvi Shaw has played 58 first-class matches so far and has accumulated 4456 runs to his name. He has slammed 13 centuries to date, alongside his 18 half-centuries in his first-class career. His highest score is a mammoth 379, achieved in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy season.

Shaw made his first-class debut for Mumbai against Tamil Nadu at Rajkot on 1 January 2017, when he was just 17 years old. In his first match, he scored a superb hundred in the second innings after being dismissed for 4 in the first innings.

Prithvi Shaw dominates his old team, Mumbai, with a superb hundred

Prithvi Shaw left his old team Mumbai to join the Maharashtra state team for this domestic season after being snubbed several times in the previous season.

Prithvi Shaw will play for Maharashtra in the 2025-26 domestic season. Ahead of the start of the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season, Shaw is currently taking part in the warm-up match against his former team, Mumbai.

On the first day of the warm-up match for Maharashtra, the 25-year-old right-handed batter scored a stunning century. Prithvi scored his hundred off just 140 balls on Tuesday. He reached the 100-run mark by taking a single off Mumbai’s new skipper Shardul Thakur.

Arshin Kulkarni, Prithvi Shaw lead Maharashtra with triple century stand on day one

He came out to open the innings with Arshin Kulkarni, and the duo added 305 runs for the first wicket. Kulkarni, the dynamic left-handed batter, scored 186 runs off just 140 balls.

He was sent back to the pavilion by Shams Mulani on the fourth ball of the 50th over. Arshin, in an attempt to play a big ground shot off Mulani, was abruptly caught by Musheer Khan.

At the time of dismissal, Shaw himself was hitting 116 runs off just 159 balls and went on to add more runs for his team.

Maharashtra Ranji Trophy Schedule 2025-26

Maharashtra will begin their 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season on October 15 against Kerala and then face Chandigarh in their second Elite B group match from October 25 to 28 of the month.

After these matches, Maharashtra will play the remaining six matches of the Elite B group, which are expected to be played against Saurashtra, Karnataka, Punjab, Goa and Madhya Pradesh.

This season will mark Prithvi Shaw’s first season for a team other than Mumbai. The right-handed opening batter has the experience of playing five Test matches for the Indian team. He made his debut with the red ball against the West Indies in 2018 and scored a hundred in his first match.
