Prithvi Shaw apologizes to Musheer Khan after altercation in Mumbai

The altercation took place on the first day of the Ranji Trophy warm-up match between Mumbai and Maharashtra.

Prithvi Shaw contacted Musheer Khan to bury the hatchet after their heated exchange during the Mumbai-Maharashtra practice match at the MCA Stadium in Gahunje, Pune. The incident had unfolded on the first day when Shaw, playing for Maharashtra against his former team, seemed to lose his cool after being dismissed by Musheer.

Prithvi Shaw the peacemaker!

The fiery opener, who had just made a sublime 181 off 220 balls, was seen charging towards the young Mumbai all-rounder after apparently being dragged on his way back. Three days later, Shaw took the first step toward making peace.

During the Maharashtra innings on the third day, he approached Musheer after the fall of a wicket, put his arm around the youngster and the two shared a brief but warm conversation. “Prithvi realized his mistake and apologized to him, saying that he is like an elder brother.“said a source YOU.

Shaw’s innings, with 21 fours and three sixes, had set the tone for Maharashtra’s mammoth 305-run opening stand with Arshin Kulkarni, who made 186 off 140 balls. But the altercation that followed the dismissal took center stage in what was otherwise an impressive performance. Maharashtra captain Ankit Bawne later downplayed the incident, saying: “These things happen in practice matches. Everything is fine now.»

Sarfaraz Khan returns

On a related note, Mumbai received some encouraging news as Musheer’s elder brother Sarfaraz Khan was declared fit for the upcoming Ranji Trophy. After completing his rehabilitation at the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru following a quadriceps injury, Sarfaraz will join the Mumbai team for their opening match against Jammu and Kashmir starting October 15. The team, headed by Sanjay Patil’s selection panel, will be named on Friday.

Sarfaraz last featured in a competitive match in May when India A were on tour with the England Lions. He made an encouraging 92. Following this, he missed the England tour as he was overlooked in place of Karun Nair and Sai Sudharsan. After that, Sarfaraz shone brilliantly in the Buchi Babu tournament, hitting two centuries before getting injured.
