Prime Video has just added one of the most confronted video game adaptations to its deep film library.
I’m of course talking about “Uncharted”, the action film featuring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, based on the Dogy Dogy Dog video game series.
But while adapting the most famous video game of Naughty Dog – “The Last of Us” – would arrive a year later to almost universal praise, this 2022 film was ridiculed by critics, winning a 41% putrid on the site of the rotten reviewer.
However, the public did not disagree with criticism, deeming it a “hot” 89% on the site. They also led the film to an impressive 407.1 million dollars at the box office.
Having it myself in theaters myself, I must say that I put myself on the side of the fans on it. Here is what you need to know about “Uncharted” from 2022 and why it is worth watching now that it is on a first -rate video.
What is “Uncharted” talking about?
“Uncharted” features Holland like Nathan “Nate” Drake, a Kleptoman bartender in New York whose brother, Sam (Rudy Pankow), left him in an orphanage when he was a child and became a professional hunter to the treasury.
But despite this abandonment, the two have always stayed in touch via the postcards that Sam would send, until the day, they stopped. At the same time as this happens, one of Sam’s partners, Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Wahlberg), comes to Nate with an offer to help him find the lost treasure of the Ferdinand Magellan crew, that Sam had helped Sully to track down.

Wanting to discover what happened to Sam, Nate agrees to team up with Sully. This leads them to an auction where they cross the dangerous Santiago Moncada (Antonio Banderas) and his lieutenant in chief Braddock (Tati Gabrielle), and they simply manage to escape. They therefore go to Barcelona to recruit another of Sully’s contacts, Fortune Hunter Chloe Frazer (Sophia Ali).
This film is divisor – but I found it fun to watch

Just from this synopsis, you can already say that “Uncharted” does not lack star power on its call sheet. The casting of the film is busy.
He also draws a beloved source material. As with “The Last of Us”, fans really love the world that Naughty Dog built in the series of games “Uncharted” and was really excited to see it on the big screen.
I’m not sure that this film delivered to this last front, certainly not at the level that “The Last of Us” would do it the following year. But this film is fun to watch, in copying the model established by many funny action -adventure films before him – the same films as the “Uncharted” games have frankly snatched for their premise.
In their criticism of Variety, Owen Gleiberman called the film “Raiders of the Lost National Treasure of the Fast & Furious Caribbean”. Although they meant that derogatory, I think it is a perfect assessment of the reason why you would like to watch this film.
Of course, it is a pale imitation of something like “Raiders of the Lost Ark” (although I am not sure that it is so far “national treasure”), but all the films cannot be “raiders”, something that each film “Indiana Jones” was revealed several times.
Sometimes you just need a fun and stupid action film with stars. On this front, “Uncharted” book, and most of the fans who have seen it clearly agree.
