Predictions of the red carpet and look that we would like to see

We are now a few days before the Met Gala, perhaps the biggest exhibition of the report of the year. Where can you find celebrities disguised as chandeliers or wearing cat costumes alongside those of personalized sewing and invaluable vintage? This year, the gala takes place to celebrate the show of the Institute costume Superfine: Capture of black stylewhich will explore the history of black dandyism and its influence on the worlds of fashion and style. Consequently, the party’s clothing code is “suitable for you”.
There is no doubt that we will see a lot of perfectly cut costumes and beautiful accessories, including butterfly knots, hats, spindles and scarves. But many participants, as they have known in recent years, can take the dress code in an entirely surprising direction, promoting a more subversive or abstract interpretation of the theme.
Whatever the stars end up carrying for the first Monday in May, it’s always fun to make our own predictions for whom should – or could it – what to celebrate the biggest fashion evening. Below, here are some of our best assumptions (and hope for hope).
Zendaya in Diotima
“My dream outfit for her is the diotima of Rachel Scott, who specializes in slinks and often hooked by hand in Jamaica. She has the body for that – and subversivity too.”—Lynette Nylander, executive digital director
Ayo Edibiri in the fear of God
“Ayo removes male fashion so well and I think it looked incredible in the elegant and elegant combination of Jerry Lorenzo.” –Leah Chernikoff, executive editor
Tracee Ellis Ross in Stephen Burrows
“There is something very dandy of the 1970s about this coat of Stephen Burrows – even if it is technically from 1968. (The man was ahead of his time!) Whether it was the elongated reverse and or the amazed decoration, it is his time of time, but also to lean into the masculine / feminine of the play and style with a huge game. Fedora hat; –Miguel In Love, accessories director
Coleman Domingo in Dior Men’s
“Coleman Domingo carrying a look of the latest Dior Men’s collection from Kim Jones would be brilliant. The style of Domingo is beautifully singular but always rationalized. It is a perfect match for asymmetrical jackets with a button and the sewing of Jones, and the synergy struck between the masculine and the woman in this particular collection looks like.” –Brooke Bobb, Director of fashion news
Tyla at Laquan Smith
“Tyla is sexy effortlessly. I think she would look incredible in the moment of the maxi white skirt of LAQUAN SMITH. It has a funny 3D floral pin for a discreet dandy-flair.” –Nicole Fritton, director of executive fashion
Rihanna in Christopher John Rogers
“I would love to see Rihanna in this Major Christopher John Rogers Dress of her fall 2025 show, maybe modified to have an additional time of CAP for a big revealing dress on the carpet. Rihanna always brings emblematic moments to the Red Carpet of Met Gala, and I’m here for that.” —Jaclyn Alexandra Cohen, fashion editor and senior accessories
Taylor Swift in Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood
“Not that I think she will go, but if she did, I could see her.) Choose Vivienne Westwood (still) and b.) Bearing this number of checkered suit to continue the recent plaid set / Men’s clothes / Custom / corresponding to Travis?” –Jenna Rosensteinbeauty director
Erykah Badu in Thom Browne
“It is not a secret for anyone that the singer-songwriter Erykah Badu is a big fan of Thom Browne-and that she wear it well. I can easily see her in a tailor-made costume and tie from the creator’s fall / winter collection, as well as an abundance of accessories.” —Tiffany dodson davis, beauty commerce editor
A $ AP Rocky in Thom Browne
“A $ after likes to indulge in any male fashion trend, like a suit and a funky tie or even a kilt. I would like to see it wear one of these two combinations that Thom Browne made his debut in his spring / summer 2025 collection. Bonus points for the plaid to bind to the theme of dandyism! – Intner, beauty market and commercial publisher
Anne Hathaway in Ralph Lauren
“I am an Anne Stan from start to finish and see her at the show of the fall 2025 of Ralph Lauren made me think how favored she would seem to model one of the last looks of the creator, with all the glamor and the frills worthy of the red carpet of the Met Gala.” —Julie Tong, head of senior trade content
Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford for Gucci
“Given the theme, I expect to see a lot of answers and, obviously, in fine sewing on the steps of this year. What is more emblematic than Gwyneth Paltrow, which would come back in the Gucci match of the Exact Tom Ford era which solidified its status of fashion icon in the 90s? I know that this option is not very invoked, but a social editor can dream!” —Feh Brown, managers of senior social media
Lady Gaga in Christopher John Rogers
“Lady Gaga is a fashion student from start to finish, and I know that if she attends this year Met Gala, she will choose a look that honors the theme. Although her career has been defined by extravagant and stage -stolen outfits, with regard to the Met, Gaga’s Sets is often unusually discreet (at least for her). So for 2025, I am hoping for this dress of Christophe John Rogers. —Joel Calfee, editor
Paloma Elsseer in Willy Chavarria
“I fell in love with this look as soon as he struck the track. I still like to see independent designers on the Red carpet is, and Willy Chavarria is THE New York designer to watch now. Tramell Tillman to Jacques Agbobly
“I recently finished the second season of Breakup And, as the rest of the world, I became the character of Mr. Milchik, played by actor Tramell Tillman. It would be really a dream of seeing Tillman at Met Gala this year, and for his first meeting, I think he would steal the show in this Denim set of designer Jacques Agbobly. Funny fact: one of Agbobly’s looks – from his latest collection, “Bienvenue à Board” – was chosen to be photographed for the official exhibition catalog ” – – –Kristina Ang, coordinator of social video
Raye in Saint Laurent
“I would love to see the singer of power Raye, who weaves elements of R&B and jazz for the music that strikes you in the soul, dressed in a sensual combination.” —Michella Oré, Fashion Commerce Editor
Lewis Hamilton in Wales Bonner
“The elegant mixture of grace Wales Bonner’s sewing and sportswear is a perfect match for this year’s co -president, Lewis Hamilton. I would love to see him in this look of the FW23 collection of his men: a pointed black coat with a off -center closure, a crunchy white hill, and a jewelring spindle that makes a headache to a treat. —Jackie Judd, assistant fashion editor
Doechii in Schiaparelli
“Doechii was the jewel of the crown of the first row during the Paris Fashion Week, a Princess Boho in a Fluid Mousseline dress in Chloé and a Coquette in Acne Acne. A not to be missed each time she grace the red carpet, she accepted her first Grammy victory in confections outside the box by Thom Browne.
