Poland selects “Franz” for the Oscar race

The Oscar Selection Committee in Poland has chosen the Biopic Franz Kafka of Agnieszka Holland “Franz” as a candidate of the country for the best category of international films in the 98th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Awards.

Holland is known for nominated films with an Oscars “Angry Harvest”, “Europa Europa” and “in the dark”.

The film depicts Kafka as a young man trapped in the nightmare of bureaucratic routine, strangely resembling the corporate world today. He is vegetarian by choice – long before he becomes current; He is the son of a domineering father and entangled in fragile relations with women.

Kafka is plunged into an existential crisis long before loneliness became a side effect of social media. Poorly understood and full of fears, he escaped in a world of irony, absurdity and imagination, creating works that made him one of the most remarkable writers of the 20th century.

The film had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in the special presentation section. Boutique films manages international sales.
