“Pokémon Legends: ZA”, the first game “Pokémon” to launch on the Switch 2, is almost there, and Nintendo revealed a quantity of Pokémon the size of Snorlax which will appear in the game. The news comes next to an hour of the game, a sequel to the spin-off of the open world of 2022 “Pokémon Legends: Arceus” capture and combat.
To start, there is more personalization of the characters than any previous “Pokémon” game. You can dress your trainer in dozens of hairstyles, outfits, hats, glasses, different backpacks – the possibilities are endless, which makes your character more personalized than ever. Once your outfit is defined, it is time to catch pokémon in the open Lumiose city open of “Pokémon X and Y”.
Lumiose City is divided into wild zones, where you can catch Pokémon and combat areas, where coaches fight to go from row Z to A. Wild areas are dispersed in the city and have distinct day and night cycles, with exclusive wandering pokémon at different times of the day. Before diving into a battle, you can select the four attacks from your Pokémon from a larger known command pool. If you want a more defensive set of movements or to inflict status conditions, such as poison or paralysis, you can now exchange these movements on the fly between battles.
Like “Arceus”, the battles of wild Pokémon in “ZA” can move quickly, but the biggest Alpha Pokémon are fighting more and can now damage your coach. During a difficult battle against an alpha trace and a packet of houndours, I ordered my gyarados to use water attacks while my trainer died of fiery explosions and avoided the fainting. Fortunately, there are cafes that will heal your injured team as well as the Pokémon centers.
The battles of coaches also get an upgrade with bonus objectives that give you additional points to increase your ZA ranking. Some of the bonuses include sneaking on enemies to get a surprise attack, get a ko at a blow or use a certain type of movement to initiate a battle. The rest of the demo included a fight against the newly revealed mega Victreebel which has become gigantic and became a thug.
“Pokémon Legends: ZA” is released on the switch 2 in October. 16. Beow, see the 142 Pokémon who are confirmed so far to appear in the game.
