Pocsettino cancels the “unrealistic” rumors of Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino rejected speculation binding it to a return to Tottenham, insisting that a return to northern London is “not realistic” for the moment.

The 53-year-old man, currently in charge of the United States national team, was linked to vacancy at Spurs after the surprise dismissal of Angel Postcoglou.

Despite the delivery of the first club trophy in 17 years with a triumph of the Europa League, Postcoglou was relieved of its functions.

Pochettino, who spent five years in Tottenham before being dismissed in November 2019, was among the names praised for the position.

However, speaking after the 2-1 defeat of the United States against Turkey in Connecticut, he clearly indicated that he did not intend to return to the Spurs for the moment.

“Today, it’s not realistic,” said Pocsettino. “Look where I am. Look where we (its back-shop staff). The answer is so clear.

“I think since my departure in 2019, my name has always been on the list [of rumours].

“I saw the rumors, we are 100 coaches on the list. Don’t worry.

“If something is happening [in the future]You will certainly see, but I am so happy at this time and we cannot talk about this type of thing.

The Argentinian resumed the American national male team in October 2024 and supervised nine games so far, recording five victories and four defeats. The defeat against Turkey has marked the team’s third consecutive defeat.

Pochettino is now focusing on the preparation of the American team for the 2026 World Cup, which they co-organize with Mexico and Canada.

During his previous visit to Tottenham, Pochettino led the club to a final of the Champions League in 2019 and obtained a finalist in the Premier League in 2016-2017.
