Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag takes players to Caribbean in the early 1700s. Play as pirate captain Edward Kenway, trained by the Assassins. Although it was released in 2013, this title remains one of the best and most beloved in the franchise.
There are 75 different locations to discover, with exploration covering both land and water. Ship Warfare adds another fun element to the series.
Assassin’s Creed Unity (2014)
The black sheep of the main games
When Assassin’s Creed Unit was released, it suffered from horrible launch bugs. To date, there remains one of the lowest rated mainline games in the serieswith 72 and 5.9 on Metacritic. Now, years later, you can enjoy the game with most of the bugs fixed thanks to the PS Plus catalog and judge for yourself whether it deserves the terrible rating.
Unit is defined in the late 1700s in France, during the French Revolution. Play as Arno Dorian and expose the true force behind the Revolution, while seeking revenge for the murder of his adoptive father.
Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry (2014)
A DLC transformed into a full game
Assassin’s Creed Cry of Freedom lets you play as Adewale, a former slave assassin who first appeared in Black flag. Originally released as DLC for the fourth Assassin’s Creed game, Cry of freedom East another pirate adventure.
This time the game takes place between 1735 and 37 in Santo Domingo, on the site of present-day Haiti. Lead Adewale on his quest to gather a pirate crew and free the slaves.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (2015)

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate allows players to control two characters in London in the 1860s, during the industrial revolution. Just like in the most recent The shadows of Assassin’s Creed, the two characters had different playstyles and shook up the franchise formula.
The game followed twins Jacob and Evie Frye. Jacob plays the role of a close-range brawler while Evie is a stealthy and intelligent character, who often chooses brains over brawn to resolve conflicts. Combat has also been revamped for this entry, with a new emphasis on sequencing attacks and blocks.
Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China (2015)
A new perspective on franchising
THE Chronicles The spin-off games were developed by Climax Studios and offered a new take on the established formula. Instead of open 3D exploration, Chronicles placed the players in a 2.5D environment with hand drawn backgrounds. All three games featured stealth and side-scrolling combat, as well as linear progression with much less exploration.
Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China placed the players in 16th century China under the Spirit Dynasty. Here, they play Shao Jun, an assassin who seeks to eliminate the Eight Tigers, a group of Templars who rule China from the shadows.
Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India (2016)
More side-scrolling adventures through history
Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India took the same approach to franchising as China. Once again, players take on the role of an assassin traveling through a 2.5D side-scrolling adventure.
This time the game was played 1840s India during the final years of the Sikh Empire. The protagonist was Arbaaz Mir, an assassin tasked with recovering the famous Koh-i-Noor diamond, while protecting his mentor and lover.
Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia (2016)
The last piece of the trilogy
Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia completes the trilogy Chronicles titles from Climax Studios. In this game you play as Nikolai Orelov in the aftermath of the October Revolution of 1917. Orelov embarks on his latest mission: to recover a special box from the Romanov family.
As with most “final” missions, this one goes wrong and leaves him in charge of the youngest daughter of former Tsar Nicholas II. This game also refers to Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, as the girl now also possesses Shao Jun’s powers and memories.
Assassin’s Creed The Ezio Collection (2016)
Revisit games with Ezio Auditore
Assassin’s Creed The Ezio Collection was a remaster of the three titles featuring Ezio Auditore da Firenze, Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, And Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. These games take players back to the origins of the series during the Italian Renaissance in the 15th and 16th centuries.
The remasters included improved graphics and lighting. Most notably, they included all the downloaded content ever released for the games, allowing players to experience the complete Ezio saga.

After receiving poor reviews for its previous two mainline games, Ubisoft took an additional year to make Assassin’s Creed Origins. The result is a more polished game that has turned the world upside down once again. Assassin’s Creed formula to be more like a traditional RPG with dynamic combat.
In this game, players follow Bayek of Siwa and his wife Aya across Egypt between 49 and 38 BCE as the two seek revenge for the murder of their son. During their journey, they find themselves involved in origins of the Brotherhood of Assassins and their enemies, the Order of Ancients, who will become the Templars.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (2018)
Go even further back in time
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey goes back even further in time than Origins, has 400 BCE Athens and Sparta. This game’s conflict focuses on the Peloponnesian War and follows Alexios or Kassandra across ancient Greece.
Players face the mysterious Cult of Kosmos, striving to uncover their secrets. Unlike previous games, which primarily focused on the overall Assassins vs. Templars storyline, Odyssey is more about historical and mythological aspects of the period.
