Phylicia Rashad honors Malcolm-Jamal Warner

Phylicia Rashad paid tribute to her co-star of “The Cosby Show” Malcolm-Jamal Warner during the introduction to the Emmy Awards 2025 in Memoriam’s performance.
“He was a beloved teenager in an emblematic television series that the world watched the virility becomes. Like all our friends and colleagues who transferred last year, Malcolm-Jamal Warner remains in our hearts,” she said.
“Tonight, as is the tradition to the Emmys, we remember them not only for their immense talent, but also for the way in which we were believing in something bigger, the best in us,” continued the actress. “Even if they may not be here with us, we can all smile, knowing that their impact will remain, knowing that their lasting impressions will continue to live through history, knowing that they have touched our lives. And if you have grown up looking at them or that you just discovered their brilliance, their light remains in the very fabric of our industry.”
His remarks come after the death of Warner in July at the age of 54 due to accidental drowning during their family vacation in Costa Rica.
Rashad and Warner portrayed the mother and the son Clair and Theo Huxable in the sitcom NBC, which took place from 1984 to 1992.
His performance gave him an appointment for the exceptional support actor in a series of comedy with 38th Primetime Emmy Awards. Warner also played the role of Théo on the spin-off of “The Cosby Show” “A Different World”.
In addition to “The Cosby Show”, the other notable roles of Warner include Malcolm McGee on the sitcom of Buddy based in Kansas City, Missouri, “Malcolm & Eddie”, Dr Reed in the sitcom “Reed between” The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story
