Photos from the set of BRAND NEW DAY seem to confirm who Sadie Sink is playing (and not playing)

Earlier today, more photos from the set Spider-Man: A Whole New Day balanced online. We’ve seen enough of the crawling robot to last us a lifetime (not that we’re complaining), so the first shot of Stranger Things Star Sadie Sink’s mysterious character was well received.
As a reminder, since his casting in Marvel Studios Spider-Man: No Way Home In the follow-up, Sink would have starred Jean Grey, Carlie Cooper, Mayday Parker, Firestar, Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane Watson.
Since Sink has red hair in these photos, we can ignore Gwen (this character is unlikely to get her in live-action until the animated film). Spider Worms the trilogy ends). Although any of the other characters listed above may be wearing camouflage pants, it now seems obvious who the actress is actually playing: Rachel Cole-Alvez.
In the comics, just hours after Rachel Cole’s wedding to surgeon Daniel Alves, a gang war broke out, resulting in the deaths of twenty-nine people at their wedding reception, including her new husband.
After his recovery, the Marine sergeant teamed up with The Punisher to seek revenge on the criminals who destroyed his life. It was a short-lived partnership, but one that saw her cross paths with Spidey during the “Omega Effect” crossover.
Several scoopers reported that The Punisher would have a female sidekick and that the character of Sink would be someone Peter Parker trusted, before she was introduced as an antagonist. Shathra never really made sense to Spider-Man: A Whole New Day unless this role has been secretly assigned.
Instead, one of the crawler’s classmates, who is secretly Frank Castle’s protege – whom Peter is forced to fight under the name Spidey – adds up. This is also a classic Spider-Man trope.
Camouflage pants aside, Sink’s character was apparently shot in the leg. It might be a lighting effect, but it looks a lot like a bloody bullet-shaped hole. It’s also the kind of injury someone like Rachel could suffer. We’re also sure it’s no coincidence that the top half of Sink’s costume has been carefully covered up… meaning we don’t see a certain logo.
Even with Hulk in play, Spider-Man: A Whole New Day should be a grounded adventure. The Punisher, joined by a young woman he intends to make like him, should present some fascinating moral dilemmas for this film’s protagonists. Additionally, as Spider-Man attempts to pull her from a dark path, he will surely realize that it is the same one he finds himself on, as he becomes more dedicated to being “Spider-Man” than “Peter Parker” after his friends and loved ones forget him, thanks to Doctor Strange’s spell.
You can take a closer look at this apparent gunshot wound in the X post below. Mail Online also shared some additional images of the destruction on set, which you can find by following this link to the site.

Spider-Man: A Whole New Day shares a title with a controversial era of storytelling that, thanks to a deal with Mephisto, saw the wall-crawler get a fresh start when his marriage to Mary Jane Watson ended and his identity became a secret again. He faced many sinister new foes during this time and was surrounded by a revamped supporting cast, including Mister Negative, Jackpot, Menace and Carlie Cooper.
Instead, all signs point to Spidey teaming up with (and at one point fighting) The Punisher to take on a Savage Hulk, with The Scorpion thrown in for good measure.
Several other villains are expected to appear in the film, including Tombstone, Tarantula, Boomerang and Ramrod. There has been some discussion online about the Venom Symbiote being factored into the story, potentially paving the way for Mac Gargan to eventually don the alien costume.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton directs Spider-Man: A Whole New Day from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Tom Holland leads a cast that also includes Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Michael Mando, Tramell Tillman, Marvin Jones III and Liza Colón-Zayas. Love at first sight* star Florence Pugh also joined the cast.
Spider-Man: A Whole New Day will be released in theaters on July 31, 2026.
