The Philadelphia Phillies will know more about the status of the JT Realmuto receiver before the rubber match of their three-game series Thursday afternoon against the Toronto Blue Jays host.

Realmuto left the late ninth match of 2-1 against Toronto on Wednesday after taking a ball in the groin area. He was replaced by Rafael Marchan.

“It is checked,” said Phillies manager Rob Thomson, a former receiver, said the post-match about Realmuto. “He’s a pretty good one. He said he had worse, but we’ll see.”

Realmuto, who went 1 for 3 Wednesday in the 2-1 defeat of Philadelphia, plays a key role behind marble.

The Phillies won the first match in the 8-3 series on Tuesday, their only victory in the last six games.

On Wednesday, Alejandro Kirk struck a walking single at the top of the right wall to mark Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and gave Blue Jays his sixth victory in the last seven games.

Philadelphia aims to return to the winning track with the left-hander Jesus Luzardo (5-1, 3.58 ERA) which should start on Thursday. He never faced the Blue Jays.

Toronto plans to counter the right-hander Chris Bassitt (5-3, 3.80), who will make his 200th beginning of career. Bassitt has a 4-0 sheet with an MPM of 2.36 in six career starts against Philadelphia.

The Phillies will try to find the offensive that has deserted them since they scored seven points in the first two rounds on Tuesday. Their only round on Wednesday came on a second round circuit of Nick Castellanos against Jose Berrios.

Former Blue Jay Jordan Romano, from the Toronto region, took defeat on Wednesday during his first outing against his former team. He entered the match in the ninth round at an ovation, but the crowd was silent a few moments later when Realmuto was hit by Bo Bichette’s fault and doubled.

Bichette was withdrawn after the change of capture, but Guerrero then anchored a simple in the middle to extend his basic sequence at 34 games. He stole second when Romano was slow on the plate on his delivery, then Kirk delivered with two withdrawals.

“I have to make a better field,” said Romano, which was signed by the Phillies during the offseason.

“We both tried to do our best, and I found myself a bit on the winning side,” said Kirk about his old drummer. “But it’s not easy to face a guy like Romano.”

Romano said that the change in mid-mans in sensors was not an excuse.

“Our two guys are great,” said Romano. “It was not a big problem for me.”

Jeff Hoffman, who launched the phillies in the last two seasons and has been signed by Toronto as a free agent in January, gave a blow and obtained one while winning the victory.

After a strong start to the season, when he had an MPM of 1.17 at the end of April, Hoffman compiled an MPM of 13.50 out of 12 outings in May.

“It was a bit of a rocky road,” said Hoffman. “Treaty with mechanical stuff.”

However, he added: “We have entered a good place. I feel good where we are now.”

At his second start of the major career league, Mick Abel de Philadelphia granted a point in 5 1/3 rounds on Wednesday. Triple-A Lehigh Valley was recalled to take the place of Zack Wheeler, which was placed on the paternity list.

The race that Abel allowed came to the triple of the sixth round of Bichette who diverted the glove of the defender of the Clissant Center Brandon Marsh.
