Phillies upset by the selection of Jacob Miriorowski at the stars play on Cristopher Sánchez: “ What joke ”

The right -handed of Milwaukee Brewers, Jacob Miriorowski, was appointed in the stars match replacing the left -hander of the Chicago Cubs, Matthew Boyd, Friday evening. Miriorowski’s selection was remarkable and surprising for the same reason: his designation came after five big league starts, putting him in place to make history as a star with the least previous games to his credit if he makes an appearance. (The 2025 star match will be played on Tuesday evening in Truist Park on Tuesday in Cumberland, Georgia.)

As you would expect, it was also an unpopular decision in a particular clubhouse. The Philadelphia Phillies have two southern pirons which, according to them, deserved the inclusion: Cristopher Sánchez (165 era + in 18 departures) and Ranger Suárez (221 ERA + in 13 departures). The phillies were not afraid of saying the same either.
“What joke,” said The Shorts Trea Turner in The Athletic. “It’s F — Ing terrible. I mean, it’s terrible, guy.”
“If he is not an All-Star, no one is,” added Turner.

It should be noted that Suárez revealed that MLB had offered him a place in the star match, but that the league demands that the replacement launchers be ok by launching a round – otherwise, there would be even more stars on paper, while the league continued to name the launchers until they find enough to fill the value of a sleeve game. Suárez, however, refused the invitation because he wanted to use the break to rest and recharge for the second half. It is perfectly reasonable on his part, but there is not much more than the league could do given the logistics in play.
As for Sánchez, athletics initially cited a major source of the league which said that he too had opted for participation, given that he should start the competition on Sunday against the Padres of San Diego. Sánchez’s agent has since told Athletic that he was “ready to present whatever happens”. We do not know what caused disconnection or if there is time and space to solve it. Sánchez has a financial incentive to want the stars: he will earn $ 200,000 if he is appointed to the team.
As for Misiorowski, it seems a little premature to name it in the middle of the summer after only five outings (certainly very good). At the same time, it is easy to envisage that this is considered a situation where the All-Star game would serve as a showcase for an increasing star.
