Could Boston be a place of landing for Pete Alonso?
It is better when it goes in the other direction, but the green monster could not hurt either.
Even before Tristan Casas was injured, the Red Sox did not seem to be sold on Casas. They will have to replace the Rafael Devers bat (even if they re-sign Alex Bregman-no guarantee). Alonso, whose woman is from Boston, is practically an offensively a duplicator (.859 career ops for Alonso at .856 for Devers) which embraces 1b.
Bregman will surely not exercise his option to stay ($ 80 million, two years), but he is open to the extension to Boston, which suits him. The discussions have not yet started, but there is a pressure to lock up Bregman after exchanging permanent to give him room at 3B.
