The future of Indo-Pak cricket during ICC events should be discussed at the annual conference of the Sports Director, scheduled for Singapore from July 17 to 20. The two countries are only played in multiple events, but the recent military conflict has fueled speculation on the future of successful confrontation in ICC competitions from the T20 World Cup of next year to be co-organized by India and Sri Lanka. “The problem will not be made to discuss the annual conference. Although the prospect of India and Pakistan do not play in the KNOCKOUTS of the ICC is unlikely, not attracting them to the same group, which was the norm at ICC events, is a possibility,” said a BCCI source in PTI.

India and Pakistan drawn in the same ICC event group had become a fact in the last decade, but following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22 and a subsequent confrontation between the two armed forces, which could change.

It is not a secret for anyone that the BCCI has the maximum weight in world cricket and even the ICC is led by an Indian, Jay Shah.

Shah would attend the annual conference for the first time as president of the ICC, having taken care of in December.

Before the Champions Trophy won by India earlier this year, PCB, BCCI and ICC had accepted a hybrid model for Indo-Pak competitions until 2027. It remains to be seen if two nations are played in 2025, the women’s world cup scheduled for India later this year.

The BCCI has a clear position on the subject: it goes according to the point of view of the Indian government and it is unlikely that it therefore changes the terrorist attack of Pahalgam which killed 26 tourists on the basis of their religion. India holds Pakistan responsible for the massacre.
