Penske cheating attracts mixed reactions from drivers, teams

Indianapolis – The Penske Josef Newgarden and Will Power team pilots were hit in the 32nd and 33rd places, respectively, in Indianapolis 500 after their cars had an illegal body adapted to their rear attenuators.

Former Indy 500 Scott Dixon champion has decided to take care of his own things and launch sub -sublimates simultaneously.

“It’s not my problem, I’m here to run legally,” said Dixon. “It’s just a bad look, right? It’s (owner) of the Roger series (Penske) and his track. It’s nothing of us that we want to see. But that’s what it is. It is a little sad.”

The director general of Chip Ganassi Racing, Mike Hull, considered the global scope of sport during the discussion of the Penske violation on Indycar radio.

“Indianapolis 500 is a global event. It is not a national event. It is not an interior event (interstate) 465. It is a global event and it must be managed with integrity. Integrity by the teams that are represented on the grid. ”

While Hull said he was disappointed, the former Penske pilot and the quadruple Indy 500 Helio Castroneves champion defended the intentions of the owner Roger Penske when he speaks with journalists after training on Monday while condemning the actions.

“I think they did something to look good. I don’t think the little lip is making them 3 mph faster,” said Castroneves. “To be honest, I know how Roger works. He wants to do everything that is beautiful, perfect, brilliant. And I think it was for that, touching this area that you are not supposed to do.”

Castroneves said he thought that Indycar’s punishment against Penske was right according to the Book of Rules. However, the Brazilian wants to threw media around the illegal action of Penske to settle down.

“They don’t need anything like it to go fast,” said Castroneves. “I don’t see this as a situation that people create and make a big problem (excluding).”

Kyle Larson joined Castroneves on the platform after training. Larson tries to run both in Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600. Whether it is the violation of Penske or the Nascar pilot Chris Buescher, Larson chooses to stay in his own way.

“I have no opinion on this. I stay outside,” said Larson. “Even on the Nascar side, when (Chris) Buescher obtained his penalty, I did not know what it was and did not really care. It did not affect me and our team, so I do not get involved with other teams.”

Penske has won a record of 20 Indianapolis 500. Larson does not think starting in the last row will be difficult for Penske cars.

“Have you seen Josef there today? He will go very well,” he said.

When he was asked what the victory fight with the 32nd would look like, Newgarden decided to stay in the present mind.

“I don’t know yet, I’m just preparing for training,” said the Indy 500 double champion. “Look at this pit box, I think it’s moving.”
