PEACEMAKER: James Gunn reveals if Chris Smith’s fate will be addressed in MAN OF TOMORROW
The season 2 finale of Peacemaker is now streaming on HBO Max, and although “Full Nelson” proved somewhat divisive, the mostly character-driven episode set up some major DCU storylines.
James Gunn has already revealed that the events of the finale will be directly linked to The man of tomorrowbut will we really know what becomes of the titular vigilante himself?

Peacemaker season 2 ends with Chris Smith and the rest of the 11th Street Kids, along with Judomaster and ARGUS agents Sasha Bordeaux and Langston Fleury, founders of Checkmate, and a revenge-fueled Rick Flag Sr. establishing his villainous turn by kidnapping Chris and stranding him in Salvation, the Earth-like dimension that Flag intends to use as a prison for the metahumans of the planet.
Gunn was asked if his Superman the sequel will directly address Peacemaker’s fate during an interview with rolling stone.
“No, no, no. But people should expect that the way the military and Rick Flagg and everyone work together and created a probably illegal prison for metahumans in another dimension, will be part of the DCU stories going forward. and metahumans. And that’s part of it. “
Gunn confirmed that the events of the finale are heading towards his own vision of DC Comics. Race of salvation, a six-issue miniseries that saw the government exile some of Earth’s most dangerous metahuman criminals to the planet Cygnus 4019 (Hi). Separate factions form as villains struggle to survive and try to discover a way to escape.
If we revisit Salvation in TowardsSurely it would be strange if we didn’t at least have an idea of what happened to Smith during his time on the prison planet? Rumors persist that John Cena will appear in the film, so there’s a chance that Gunn is simply trying to confuse fans here.
Gunn was also asked if the salvation thread would continue in Supergirl And Lanterns.
“Both of those things are worked on. We knew that those two stories were part of what we initially created, so they’re part of the overall tapestry, but they’re also their own thing. Supergirl in particular is a space adventure. It’s like Guardians. The Lanterns is a thing in itself. There’s just a longer, bigger world that we’re building with all these different pieces and they all come together and intersect sometimes in a story and sometimes just in a, you know, ‘Here’s another piece of the world’ fashion.”
