Pathirana or Nortje to replace Mohammed Shami?

RCB have retained 15 players, leaving a maximum of 10 spots, including 2 overseas, to fill the squad with a purse of INR 25.50 crore.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) finished sixth last season. Almost everything was going against them. Their ultra-aggressive style of play didn’t work, as most of their hitters found themselves out of shape. Despite this, in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction, SRH simply need to find some quality replacements and backups.

Purse and locations for IPL 2026 auction
SRH has the third highest purse for the IPL 2026 auction – INR 25.50 crore. But considering they only need to fill 3 slots to reach the minimum team roster and 10 slots for a maximum of 25 players, the number isn’t too bad. At best, SRH can acquire 2 foreign players, as they have already retained 6.
Players SRH should target in IPL 2026 auction
SRH must fill the void left by Mohammed Shami. They will have to get a foreign bowler to compensate for this as you cannot find a domestic replacement for Shami in a mini-auction. The departure of Adam Zampa and Wiaan Mulder means they will either have to recruit an all-rounder from abroad or a spinner to compensate. They can’t do both.

They have two wicketkeepers, but will need another replacement. Although Aniket Verma played the role of finisher, they might look for someone as an all-rounder who can strike the ball at number seven or eight. They will be looking for another domestic spinner, someone who can replace Zeeshan Ansari and Harsh Dubey, if necessary.
The release of Simarjeet Singh means another quality Indian fast bowler is needed. If not one, two can also be acquired since SRH doesn’t really need many middle or upper order hitters.
