Pastel images acquire a documentary “Sudan, Remember Us”

Natermelon Pictures acquired American distribution rights on the political documentary “Sudan, Remember Us”, Variety can announce exclusively.
The agreement follows the premiere of the film at the Venice Film Festival and the screenings at the Toronto International Film Festival and Doc Nyc. Directed by Hind Meddeb, “Sudan, Remember US” follows resistance movements in the Arab world after the 2019 Sudanese revolution. Meddeb follows artists, activists and a movement led by young people, capturing how “the country has tragically slipped into war”, according to an official synopsis.
“The urgent and provocative portrait of Hind Meddeb of the creative and revolutionary youth of Sudan is exactly the kind of intrepid narration that we exist to defend,” said the co-founder of Watermelon Pictures, Hamza Ali, in a press release.
In his Variety Revue de Tiff, the critic Murtada Elfadl described the film as “a thoughtful and empathetic look at the way in which collective hope can mobilize an entire generation”. He then completed the cinematography and the way in which “the camera is also listening to the places, giving the capital Khartoum its individuality as a place with a rich history which fed these intelligent eloquent people.”
The film is produced by Echo Films and Blue Train Films and co -produced by My Way Production Tounès. The producers include Abel Nahmias, Michel Zana and Alice Ormières, with the co -production of Taoufik Guiga.
Since its creation in April 2024, the Pales of Pettels belonging to Palestinians have published the preselected Oscar “From Ground Zero”, the political drama “The Teacher” and the Documentary in a timely “Campements” in theaters.
The acquisition agreement was negotiated by Hamza Ali in the name of Nawtmelon Pictures and Margot Hervee in the name of Totem Films. “Sudan, Remember Us” should go out in theaters this summer in North America.
