Paqueta envisages legal action against the FA following the scandal of betting

Lucas Paqueta de West Ham weighed a legal action against the football association after having been uncompromising with the accusations of fixing the spots.
According to sources close to the 28 -year -old player, his legal team “is currently considering all the options”.
The Brazilian midfielder was originally billed by the FA in May 2024, accused of having deliberately collected yellow cards with the “inappropriate goal of affecting the betting market”.
However, an independent committee rejected the four allegations in July 2025.
On Wednesday, the written judgment explaining their conclusions was published, raising doubts about the reasons why the FA chose not to consult independent data experts from Paris during the investigation.
Package lawyers are now examining the full report and explore the possible answers, which could include the pursuit of the FA.
The Package Driving Survey began in August 2023, nine months before official accusations were brought. The announcement of the probe at the time explained its transfer of 80 million pounds Sterling to Manchester City.
The Commission underlined the financial damage caused by the case, noting that Paquetá and West Ham would have “received substantial sums running in the tens of millions of pounds” and added that “the player and the Ham West reserve all their rights in this regard.”
