Carolina Panthers on the left Ikem Ekwonu Panthers had an appendectomy last weekend and is in danger of missing the opening of the season in Jacksonville.

Head coach Dave Canales said he was not ready to make a reckless decision on the status of Ekwonu, who started 49 of his games since his sixth writing in the general classification in 2022 – including 15 last season.

“We saw these things turn over in just over a week,” said Canales on Wednesday. “It can be longer. It just depends on the body of each individual, how you react to surgery, how your body heals in the right way. So it will be daily until the match.”

Yosh Nijman, 29, would play the position of the left tackle if Ekwonu, 24, is unable to go against the Jaguars on September 7.
