Packers’ Bo Melton has new old role on Monday Night Football

Bo Melton of the Green Bay Packers is taking on a new role on Monday Night Football.

The talented Packer wearing number 16 is on offense again.

It’s a bit of a surprise, but not a crazy one.

Before the season, Melton converted to cornerback. He had been a wide receiver throughout his NFL career thus far, but the WR room was crowded in Green Bay.

Melton’s best chance to make the team was playing against CB, and he executed. He made the list.

Early in the season, Melton got snaps on the defensive side of the ball, as well as on special teams.

But on Monday, the Packers must have felt too shorthanded. Melton got several snaps on the offensive side of the ball in the second quarter.

It’s unclear if this is a total throwback, or if this is the Packers doing a bit of a two-way thing, a la Travis Hunter.

Melton made some big plays in 2024 at wide receiver, so it’s not like he’s a bad option to have.

And it certainly helps the Packers if they have a roster spot they can use on a guy who can play two different positions.

It will be interesting to see how this develops over the rest of the season.
