“Overcompensor the team” on the mentality “try everything” while exploring university life

Video’s bonus Over -compulsory Captures the ups, the stockings and the absurdities of university life in a way that the creator of Benito Skinner hopes to feel both very personal and very universal at the same time.
Vaguely inspired by Skinner’s own experience, the series of eight episodes establishes a tonne -stoning balance, from funny to poignant to incredibly embarrassing and everything else. Skinner explained that the way of doing it is by experimentation.
“You try everything and see,” said Skinner during a conversation at the Deadline Studio of Prime Experience. “If for a moment feels like:” Oh, we are supposed to feel something different there “, back up. I think that a good example is the scene where Grace is with Janet in the sixth episode, he has in a way this little emotional connection, and we made someone say someone out of the camera:” Is it time for me to erase you now? “And we said to ourselves,” Maybe we don’t need it. ” »»
Finding the right balance, however, can have a huge emotional gain for the public.
“There is something going on, I think … the vulnerability of the moment you laugh, and then something happens that you have not seen coming,” added Scott King. “I just have the impression that you feel it much more, because you are just off guard.”
At the Dedline Studio, Skinner and King were joined by a large part of the main distribution, including Wally Baram and Mary Beth Barone, who were also writers, as well as Adam Dimarco, Kyle Maclachlan, Connie Britton and Owen Thiele.
“This is my dream cast. The show is exactly what it must be,” proudly proclaimed Skinner, adding that he was only inspired to continue the story by watching each of them embody their characters.
“What a gift all these people, I say to myself:” I want to see you do this, and I want to see you do this. ” And it’s, I think, the brand of a casting that is right, “he said.
On his credit, the casting said they felt in the same way after reading the Over -compulsory pilot-As it was exactly the project they were looking for.
“I just think that you read a lot of scripts as an actor and writer, and so little that you find yourself laughing while you read them. So there were so many moments that … were very specific, even if they were addressed to these archetypal characters that I think that people may have the impression of having seen before,” said Barone. “These little moments that Benny is so good for choosing for the characters, it only seemed different from everything I had ever read before. There were even things in the direction of the stage. I hope that the scripts will be published one day, because there are so many jokes. I have never read a script that had jokes in the direction of the stage like that.”
If they get the green light for a second season, they all agree that the well of ideas and inspiration is far from dry.
“What is interesting for me about this idea of overcompensor with these characters is that at no time do you stop doing this completely. So I think I am really inspired by thought that if someone has a comfort cover, we delete it,” said Skinner. “I want to see them start again in many ways, and I think that is what this end tells you that you could happen. Now, some truths are there, but I don’t think you stop overcompensor in the moment when the truth is there too. But, as, too the spring break.”
