Over 17,800 ice cream cards recalled for possible plastic contamination

More than 17,800 boxes of ice cream and icy yogurt have been recalled due to the potential presence of plastic parts in the product.
Wells Enterprises, an Iowa -based company, published the voluntary recall on April 25, 2025 according to a report published this week by Food and Drug Administration.

The recall includes 22 flavors of ice cream and iced yogurt wrapped in baths of 3 gallons, which were available in 103 centers across the United States, including the locations of Mars, Iowa; Wyoming, Michigan; Rosemont, Illinois; Houston, Texas; And Fort Worth, Texas.
Affected products have “better dates if used by” from March 2026 to October 2026.

ABC News contacted Wells Enterprises but has not yet received an answer.
The recall is classified as a class II event by the FDA, which means that the contaminated product could cause temporary or medically reversible negative or medically reversible consequences, although the risk of serious damage is considered distant, the agency’s website says.
On Sunday, there was no report of injuries or undesirable effects.
A complete list of recalled products – including recall numbers, codes, quantities and descriptions – has been published online by the FDA.
