Our favorite budget-friendly Switch 2 controller has hit its lowest price

If you’ve just received (or purchased) a brand new Nintendo Switch 2 and are in the process of making an accessory wish list for it, your timing couldn’t be better. One of its best value controllers just hit its lowest retail price ever.
I’m talking about the PowerA Advantage Nintendo Switch 2 Controller, usually $39.99, which is heavily discounted. The new price varies greatly depending on the color option, but on a certain model it depends on $24.99 at Amazonand close to that for other versions.
Having earned just three stars in our review, it would be a stretch to call the PowerA Advantage the best Nintendo Switch 2 controller of all time. However, there is still a good reason to buy it; we crowned it the best budget option, for people who don’t need a high-end option and instead prefer value for money.
The PowerA has all the buttons and features of a Switch 2 controller, plus additional audio controls and Hall effect joysticks. The version featured in this deal is wired, so battery life isn’t an issue.
Our issues are things you’d expect from a cheap option: it has no rumble, feels cheap to hold, and has some odd button placements. If you’ve ever used a cheap alternative to a console controller, you’ll know what to expect.
Should you buy the PowerA Advantage Nintendo Switch 2 Controller?
The PowerA Advantage Nintendo Switch 2 Controller is discounted fairly frequently, but in my research I haven’t found any evidence of it ever hitting $24.99 before. It’s certainly for the Mario Party controller, but the black option is marked down to $27.30 and again, I don’t see any option (other than Mario) reaching that price before.
During 2026, we’ll likely see other color options hit the $25 mark, but if you’re looking for an affordable Switch 2 controller now, you’re unlikely to get it. substantially cheaper – we’re already at the bottom of the market ladder, after all.
If you’re a Mario fan, it’s an easy buy, and the black model for $2 more is also great value. The brilliant Lumectra White and Mario Mushroom Kingdom are both $29.99, which is still a solid $10 savings.
We consider the Official Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller to be the best controller for the console, but it’s a rarely discounted MSRP of $89.99. Some other good-value alternatives, like the $59.99 8BitDo Ultimate 2, are also good choices for budget-conscious buyers, but that’s still more than double the price of the discounted PowerA.
