Oscar shortlisted ‘Pantyhose’ to stream on streaming service Cyon

Fabian Munsterhjelm’s Oscar-nominated live-action short film “Pantyhose” will be released worldwide on Cyon Media’s new streaming service, the producer has revealed.
Additionally, the director’s feature film, currently in development, will likely use Cyon’s crowdfunding service as a financing tool.
“Pantyhose” is being shown in select cinemas in Finland ahead of the feature film “Dead of Winter”, directed by Brian Kirk and starring Emma Thompson. It is distributed by Cinemanse.
“Pantyhose” will be available worldwide via Cyon Media’s Web3 player, available on Cyon’s social channels, including its Substack.
Producer Jenni Ripatti of Wildhog Productions said: “Audiences can experience the film in Finnish cinemas but also from their sofas around the world. We are currently developing a feature film with Fabian, and Cyon’s platform could be the key to bringing this story to life.”
Munsterhjelm added: “Together with Jenni, we are developing a feature film about a bad guy released from prison, and the chase that follows that accident is a hilarious, full-length action comedy that the whole family can enjoy together. I believe the times we live in need feel-good cinema and its power to bring people together around a good old entertaining story.”
Cyon Media is a Finland-based company founded by broadcast systems architect Tracie Mitchell and producer Lotta Stenroos.
Mitchell said: “We are thrilled to be part of this film’s journey to global recognition. Not only was the film shortlisted for an Oscar, but Fabian and Jenni also have the foresight to explore new technologies that are changing the media economy in favor of filmmakers and creators.”
“Pantyhose” is one of 15 short films shortlisted in the Best Live-Action Short Film category at the 98th Academy Awards, selected from an initial pool of 207 nominees. Oscar nominations will be announced on January 22.
The film stars Satu Tuuli Karhu and Sappa Batal. The screenwriters are Sappa Batal and Munsterhjelm.
