Orlando Bloom feels Pirates of the Caribbean 6 needs this only thing to succeed

The photos of Walt Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have tried to pass a new film “Pirates of the Caribbean” for some time, but the project has still not left the port. At least one of the original stars is ready to come back … and he hopes that others will follow.
At Fan Expo Chicago 2025, Orlando Bloom, who played the blacksmith who became Pirate Will Turner in four of the five previous films, discussed the possibility of “Pirates 6” and appear to him (as reported by Entertainment Weekly), saying:
“I would personally I would like to see everyone again. I think the way of winning it is to recover everyone. If she can, and if everyone wanted to go back … My thing is, if the script was great and – ideally it was everyone – it would be a bit like a penny, for a book, you know.”
When Bloom says “everyone”, he probably wants Keira Knightley (who played the love of Will Elizabeth Swan), Johnny Depp (Flamboyant Captain Jack Sparrow) and Geoffrey Rush (Charming Script captain Hector Barbossa). From this central distribution, only Depp and Rush have appeared in the five films “pirates” so far. Bloom and Knightley fell back the fourth film, “On Stranger Tides”, but returned for small roles in the fifth, “Dead Men Tell No Tales”. Barbossa did Die in “Dead Men Tell No Tales”, but he came back from the big beyond.
Bloom, however, said that he had no idea what history for a “pirates 6” would imply. “Do you bring a leading character who reproduces Jack in one way or another? I do not know,” he said, probably referring to a proposed “pirate” film that will show Margot Robbie. Robbie’s “pirates” were announced in 2020, but in 2022, the actress said the film did not arrive. Bruckheimer, however, told EW in 2024 that he always intended to do both a “restart” and the spin-off led by Robbie.
“Dead Men Tell No Tales” had a post-key scene alluding to what Davy Jones (Bill Nighy), the former ghostly captain in the face of Calmar, Flying Dutchman, had returned. “Pirates 6” follow this?
When Bloom says he wants “everyone”, however, I hope he also includes someone behind the camera: Gore Verbinski, the director of the original films (and by far the best) of three “pirates”.
The Pirates of the Caribbean 6 are faced with certain challenges
Verbinski’s biggest talent as a filmmaker is to build sets. The action in his films “pirates” is maniac, does not lack comedy but always completely exciting. Look at the three -way duel in the second film, “Dead Man’s Chest”, and you can see how the “Pirates” Non Verbinski films are pale imitations.
Admittedly, Verbinski let his imagination go a bit Also Loose on the consequences, hence the sprawling and complicated account of “at the end of the world”. The construction of the world has embarrassed the adventure, a problem that modern blockbusters have not yet overcome. For many years, people have struck the original “Curse of the Black Pearl” in a bottle, but the weather was nice to “pirates” 2 and 3. They are not flawless films, but the merits sing stronger than problems.
In addition to putting Verbinski at the helm, Bloom’s call to bring the group together in the right movement? Depp is no longer the star he was in 2003. He had a series of flops in the 2010s, mainly because he tried to take over the magic of Jack Sparrow in other roles. Public opinion on Depp also remains decidedly divided following his disorderly defamation trial with his ex-wife Amber heard (which had accused him of abuse in 2016). Bruckheimer said in 2017 that “Pirates 6” would not go ahead without Depp, and he reiterated this year that he had spoken with Depp for membership in the film.
The other problem that “Pirates of the Caribbean” has never overcome is that “at the end of the world” concluded things too definitively for the original distribution. Will was obliged to captain the Flying Dutchman, but if Elizabeth remained faithful to him for 10 years, they could again be together. The film ended by showing that it did it. Meanwhile, Jack Sparrow was Han Solo, that is to say the best as an adorable Rogue to bounce back on different main characters, and make him subsequent officials did not work. “Dead Men Tell No Tales” tried to be a series of “Force Awakens” Legacy, twin Jack with Will and Elizabeth Henry (Brenton Thwaites) and the daughter of Barbossa Carina (Kaya Scodelario). This torch has ignited by having passed.
As cool, a villain that Davy Jones was, his bow ended perfectly in “At World’s End”. Hailed in the heart by Will, Jones fell into the ocean and was forever brought together with his true love, the chalice of the sea god (Naomie Harris).
Disney obviously does not intend to let the asleep pirates lie, but maybe their best bet is a new start, not a meeting.
