Chicago – They were stored in Bowie, then sent to a late flight Thursday evening, after the start of the MLB trade deadline, and only arriving at the team hotel after 2 am because they had to turn away via Milwaukee, then go to Chicago. A music festival had obstructed flights.
When they arrived on Friday, they needed the Orioles brand equipment in the storage area and present themselves to their new teammates. Some, including Jeremiah Jackson, had to prepare for their debut at the MLB.
These are the replacement players, those who, in the interval at least, are with the Orioles to fill their list after the team has exchanged nine players before the deadline on Thursday.
“Obviously, the last 48 hours have been completely whirlwind,” said Terrin Vavra, one of these players sent to meet the Chicago team.
Friday morning there were six new faces in the clubhouse. Will someone be on the list of major leagues next year? Maybe one or two. But, as the objective of the team has gone from the realization of the qualifiers to reach 0,500 for having now survived the rest of the season, the Orioles need bodies.
So, how was a team consecutive to the consecutive appearances of the eliminations with three old perspectives n ° 1, the finalist of the recruit of the year of the American league voted last year and a narrower fall of the stars?
The first signs of problems occurred last winter. Corbin Burnes probably never returned to Baltimore. Orioles have made an effort, offering it an agreement of $ 180 million over four years which had higher average annual value than the $ 210 million contract over six years which it signed to stay at home in Arizona.

One Wednesday at the beginning of March, Elias’ plan started to crack. Rodriguez came out of his second training in the spring, start to feel “slow”. He needed a cortisone stroke in his elbow and would miss the opening day, but would only need a week to 10 days to recover, the Orioles said. That night, the players said they were forgetting it and moving on, they could bounce back the next day. “This day was difficult, of course,” said Povich. “Never expect it to happen as it happens.”
The successes continued to arrive in May. A five -day sequence was followed a few days later with a scan of three games by the Twins.

It was the first time, said Povich, that being sold on the deadline seemed to be a realistic possibility.
“I think we have always had the idea that it would turn around and that it would not happen to this point, but it unfortunately did it,” he said.
