Playing on a hard short surface which promotes the style of game of Boulter, she claimed her fourth victory at the WTA 1000 level.
“What battle,” said Boulter. “I found it very difficult to overcome the line today. I think she was playing really disruptive tennis.
“She is so talented. I know what she is capable of and I am really delighted that mentally, I stayed as loud as possible and that I found her a means, so I am happy.”
She added: “I had a few difficult months and I am really satisfied with the way I put myself there and I try to fight for each point.
“I played good tennis last week and obviously new conditions here. Difficult to play against a very good player, so I think I did well to spend this match.”
