London – British prince William and Princess Kate are preparing to move to a new house in search of a “new start” after a difficult period for the family.
The Royals, as well as their children – George, Charlotte and Louis – will move to the Lodge Forest of eight rooms in Windsor Great Park.
The family has lived in Adelaide Cottage in the field of the castle of Windsor since August 2022, but after a tumultuous period marked by the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the treatment of Kate cancer, they estimated that it was the right time for a change.
“Windsor has become their house. However, in recent years, when they have lived in Adelaide Cottage, there have been really difficult times,” a royal source at NBC News told.
“The move gives them the opportunity for a new start and a new chapter; an opportunity to leave the most unhappy memories behind. It is a long -term decision. They see it as their house forever,” added the source.
The family first moved from Kensington Palace to London in Windsor three years ago.
This last decision is financed in private, with William and Kate paying the rent of the market. As with Adelaide Cottage, the family will not have resident staff.
In addition to their new Windsor house, the family maintains other residences, including Anmer Hall in Norfolk, where they spend a large part of the school holidays.
Their offices remain at the Palais de Kensington.
At the end of last year, William described the previous 12 months as “brutal” and “the most difficult year of my life”, following cancer diagnoses for his wife and father, King Charles III.
Kate announced in January that she was in remission, months after completing her chemotherapy treatment. She spoke in July to feel that she had to put a “courageous face” but finding the period after her treatment “really … difficult”.
