One Piece will end after its next arc, marking the final stretch of the manga

Some journeys seem grander than life itself, and One piece is no exception. Even though all great things must come to an end, it’s still sad to think of a manga world without new chapters of Eiichiro Oda’s modern odyssey. As the creator himself teases, the Straw Hats don’t have much left to explore after Elbaph.
Obtained from Oda’s letter to Jump Festa 2026 participants and published on Oda. One piece account of the staff on X, the manga is soon getting closer to Laugh Tale. There surely isn’t much left to explore in the series beyond Elbaph, but now it’s time for fans to get their answers. In 2026 it looks like it may be the end of One piece.
One Piece Creator Teases Endgame Beyond Elbaph
What did Roger see in Laugh Tale?
In Oda’s letter, a hilarious glimpse into his fluid stream of consciousness, he teases One piece the future with the Arc of Elbaph which is about to end “in beauty”. But it also indicates that the next territories will indeed constitute the end of the game. One piece plot.
While 2026 is unlikely to be the manga’s final year, especially with Lodestar Island being the Grand Line’s last stop before Laugh Tale, it raises a lot of questions. Where is the last road poneglyph located? What did Joyboy leave behind that made Roger and his team laugh until they cried, dubbing the island Laugh Tale?
The Elbaph Arc Proves One Piece Still Has a Lot to Explain
Sanji better demonstrate Conqueror’s Haki before the credits roll
As the Arc of Elbaph showed, One piece the dense lore is far too massive to even be contained in his bespoke Harley texts. There are still unfinished business with Blackbeard and his crew, Luffy’s reunion with Shanks, and what will or even can be done against the hideous and oppressive rule of the World Government.
Laugh Tale exists beyond the confines of Log Pose navigation in One piece. With each of the four Road Poneglyphs clearly an “x marks the point” moment in the future, this will be the culmination of Luffy’s journey. But with the pace of the manga, it will likely be a while before fans reach that glorious final destination.
