One of Stephen King’s most underrated projects of all time is discovered streaming

If there have been any constants over the past five decades of the entertainment industry, it’s popcorn and Stephen King. This year has been particularly rich in adaptations of the great author’s work, which has undoubtedly inspired a new generation of audiences to discover older films and shows inspired by his stories. Among the most underrated King adaptations is the thriller miniseries 22.11.63which debuted in 2016 to positive reviewshas developed a strong cult following over the ensuing years and is now seeing a growing audience on iTunes.
According to FlixPatrol, 22.11.63 entered the domestic iTunes charts on October 20 when the ranking was dominated by the eternal favorite South Park. Titled by James Franco and executive produced by Abrams, 22.11.63 followed a time traveler who tries to stop the assassination of John F. Kennedy. In the national streaming charts, 22.11.63 beat Snowdropsas well as the animated series Tron: Insurrectionwhich gained momentum following the theatrical release of the last opus of the franchise, Tron: Ares.
Also featuring Sarah Gadon, Chris CooperAnd George MacKay, 22.11.63 got mostly positive reviews. It currently sits at a “certified fresh” score of 83% on aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, where the critics’ consensus reads: “While the execution feels almost as dated as the period it represents, 22.11.63 gradually reveals a compelling and well-executed series of events. “Describing it as”unique and very satisfyingCollider’s review at the time noted that the series’ “aesthetics are tantalizing, the acting compelling, and the twists and turns and supernatural elements are genuinely shocking.”
Stephen King fans have several major projects to look forward to
The year 2025 has been filled with King adaptations, starting with Chuck’s lifewhich received very positive reviews but underperformed at the box office.
