A classic film of all time is being turned off for the small screen because it appeared that the rights holders behind We flew over the cuckoo nest Cook a new series adaptation.
Speaking on Indie FilmMaking Podcast CK Café, Producer Paul Zaentz, The Nephew of the Film’s Original Producer Saul Zaentz, Discloseed: “Just Now, I’ve signed an agrement with keesey’s widow to develop a tv series that well make through the point of view of the chief for the first Season. [from the psychiatric hospital]. “”
Kesey, author of the source material of the film, disowned the classic of Milos Forman in 1975, in part because he diverged from his novel, which was told from the point of view of Chef Bromden, alias the “ chief ” (played memorably in Will Sampson’s film).
It is not clear at this stage which, if someone, writes the new spin-off, or if there is a studio on board. We contacted Zaentz for more details.

The only television spin-off sanctioned to date has been the prequel series of Netflix 2020 Rampwho only ran a season. Zaentz was producer of the series.
In Podcast CK Café, Zaentz confirms that Fathom Entertainment will reissue a 4K restoration of We flew over the cuckoo nest This month in more than 1,000 screens in the United States to mark the 50th anniversary of the film.
Zaentz expresses skepticism about remakes of classical films films (“don’t remake Psycho“, He says), but reflects that this series can allow more time for the development of the character. That said, in his mind, recent adaptations of small screen The coast of mosquitoes And The talented Mr. Ripleyin the form of Netflix RipleThe two did not succeed in the original films.
