Oilers, Trent Frederic focusing on long -term extension

UFA winger of Oilers and Pending Trent Frederic had preliminary discussions on an extension of a maximum eight -year contract for the striker of the last six, said Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal on Wednesday. Conversations on an extension started earlier this month, but were deposited in the Stanley Cup final. These discussions will resume this week after last night’s defeat, David Pagnotta from the fourth written period, adding “There is a path to an agreement. “”

Even with a probably low price per season, this level of commitment would be shocking for a player of Frédéric’s competence. We have noticed longer -term transactions under execution in the six elsewhere with an upward score and a physical advantage in recent years. Carrier William,, Logan O’Connor,, Mathieu OlivierAnd Miles have all landed long-term extensions or free agent commitments in the post-comfortable era, and Frédéric certainly adapts to this profile.

However, none of these players received the maximum term available, and they all have managed or high years of platform. This is not the case with Frédéric. The injuries limited him to 58 regular season games, including one with Edmonton after having acquired Bruins in a contract of three teams before the deadline for trade. When he was dressed, he recorded a score line of 8-7–15 and a note of -16, a career-basic. Although he has not seen a drop in the deployment of his strong projections of 2022-2023 and 2023-24 in Boston, he produced only 0.26 points per match after an average of 0.40 in the previous three years.

Oilers are belief that is sufficient for experience to obtain a long -term commitment and, probably, a role as third -line Oil in the predictable future. He had consecutive seasons of 17 and 18 goals and a 40 -point career summit with Bruins not so long ago. Two years of this level of production are not a huge assessment, but an affordable price could be an attractive proposal for Oilers to make it secure in case it reaches this production again.

It would also be a worthy boost on the part of Frédéric to win long -term financial security throughout its peak, which is generally not feasible for players on average between 11 and 13 minutes per game. He saw 11:24:24 of the ice time for the Oilers in the playoffs, recording a score line of 1-3-4 in 22 games and ranking fourth from the team with 85 strokes.

While the stars of the oilers have obviously done the bulk of the work, some depth attackers had impacts of decent possession in the playoffs. Frédéric was not one of them. Its share of 45.2% of attempts to shoot equal force was the club’s second waiting among the players who played the 22 eliminatory games, before only Adam Henrique“S 44.7%. He has also seen no deployment in special teams.

It is likely that they consider Frédéric as a younger, more stable and more affordable long -term replacement for more expensive veterans like Viktor Arvidsson And Evander KaneWho could both be moved this summer to release the ceiling space after the regular seasons in the grip of injuries. However, it is fair to question what a goal for an eight -year commitment, which would make Frédéric throughout his 35 -year season, serves that a contract of five to six years did not do it. The probability that Frederic is always in the NHL, and potentially even providing a positive value towards the end as the salary ceiling increases, is exponentially higher with this last option.
