Columbus, Ohio – – Julian Sayin launched for four affected, established an Ohio record for the passes finished to start a match and dropped from the school record for consecutive ends while the best -classified Buckeyes won a 70-0 victory against Grambling State on Saturday.
Ohio State (2-0) – Playing his first match as a team No. 1 in the top 25 of the AP since 2015 – has marked eight of his first first possessions and did not kick before the middle of the fourth quarter. It was the ninth victory in the history of the school by at least 70 points and sixth via the laundering.
Two of these victories are now against colleges or historically black universities. Buckeyes beat Florida A & M 76-0 in 2013.
“We talked about being more explosive and playing with tempo. It was good,” said coach Ryan Day. “I thought Julian really had specific throws, the ball came out on time and that the spacing, timing and protection were good.
“You know they (Grambling) have been outpatched in terms of talents, and I think that (coach Mickey Joseph) expressed it. But I give them a lot of respect to play hard and play for four quarters until the end.”
Grambling State (1-1) received $ 1 million for making his first trip to the Ohio stadium.
Sayin finished his first 16 passes and finished 18 of the 19 for 306 yards, all in the first half. The second year student broke the brand of Will Howard of 13 consecutive completion to start a game.
Howard had established the record on January 20, when he led the Buckeyes to victory during the national championship match of the university football qualifiers against Notre Dame.
Sayin was on the death of attachment to the school of CJ Stroud of 17 consecutive completions when he was chosen by Tyrell Raby of Graming at Tigers 1 on a pass intended for Carnell Tate.
“I don’t think I have done this before, but I think it’s just, when you get these completions in a way, it strengthens the confidence and energy of other players in the offense, when they start to see the ball moved on the field like that,” said Sayin.
Sayin managed five completions of at least 40 yards, including his first two Touché passes – a 47 yards at the end tightly Will Kacmarek on the possession of the opening of Ohio State and an 87 yards at Jeremiah Smith with 8:54 remaining in the first quarter.
Smith, who had five receptions for 119 yards and two affected, was widely opened at the Ohio State 46 and did not touch the left touch line for the second longest pass in the history of the school and the third longer melee piece.
Lincoln Kienholz took over in the quarter-back in the third quarter and Tavian St. Clair played the last 11 minutes.
Bo Jackson rushed to 108 yards and a touchdown, all in the second period.
Tate made its second big take as many weeks in the northern end area of Ohio Stadium when it reached Raby and transported it for a score of 13 yards to put the four -touched buckeyes in the second trimester.
Last week, Tate beat the corner half of Texas Jaylon Guilbeau for a touch of 40 yards. Tate juggled on the ball before removing it in the goals.
The best possession of Grambling State was his third, which started at the end of the first quarter. The Tigers made a 12 game disc which included the 19 yards of André Crews on the left in fourth and 1 in 50. They arrived at the Ohio State 19 before Theodore Caballero missed a 36 yards attempt.
It was the only time the Tigers entered the territory of Ohio State.
“I think you are just starting to make sure you can do what we are able to do against them, that you are not delusional as I think some people are delusional,” said Joseph. “Some people thought we were going to enter here and go with them. Not with 63 scholarships. What (do), a list of $ 35 million? I don’t have a list of $ 35 million. Perhaps we can assemble our money and we prove $ 35 million, but I doubt it. ”
Grammbling State: Joseph wanted his team to play a clean game. The Tigers did so for most of the first half, but had three reversals, including a breakaway by Byron Eaton Jr. during the first game of the second half which was returned 23 yards for a touch of Riley Pettijohn.
Ohio State: Buckeyes, who had 203 infraction yards during the 14-7 victory last week at the time. 1 Texas, accumulated 208 yards through nine games on Saturday.
Grambling State is hosting the Kentucky State next Saturday.
The Ohio State welcomes Ohio University next Saturday.
